THE LIVING WORD By Major. Frank Materu
Key Verse:
“For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any doubleedged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.” – Hebrews 4:12
Introduction:
In a time when many dismiss the need for God’s Word, they unknowingly choose spiritual death over life.
The Living Word of God is the foundation of creation and the source of life itself.
To reject it is to reject the vitality and purpose found in Him.
This message is a call to embrace the power of God’s Living Word, which restores, guides, and empowers His people.
Let us hunger for His voice and allow His Word to transform us daily.
The Power of the Living Word:
Scripture Reference:
Genesis 1:3
"And God said, ‘Let there be light,’ and there was light."
From the beginning, God’s Word has been alive and active.
Through it:
The foundations of the earth were laid.
Humanity was created.
Creation itself came into being.
Without God’s Word, there is no life.
To live apart from it is to embrace spiritual death.
Rejecting the Living Word:
When people claim they do not need God’s Word, they are choosing death over life.
Many profess to belong to God yet neglect to listen to His voice.
Instead, they cling to lifeless scriptures, treating them as mere texts rather than seeking the breath of God that makes them alive.
Dead Letter vs. Living Word:
The Word of God is alive only when we receive it through His Spirit.
Without the Spirit’s illumination, it becomes a dead letter that cannot give life.
The Danger of Self Sufficiency:
Those who rely on their interpretation of scripture without seeking God’s voice end up accumulating death instead of life.
True life comes only from obedience to His Living Word.
God’s Desire for His People.
Scripture Reference:
Matthew 4:4
"Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God."
God longs for His people to live abundantly in Him, nourished by His Word:
Hunger for His Voice:
– God delights in those who eagerly seek His Word in every circumstance, desiring to follow Him completely.
Reject Limitations:
– When we limit God by declaring He no longer speaks, we separate ourselves from His lifegiving power.
Life Among the Living:
Scripture Reference: John 11:25.
"I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die."
Do not seek life among the dead.
God is raising a generation of spiritual people who will hold fast to His spoken Word.
These individuals will:
Be cut off from sin. – God’s Word brings forgiveness and restoration.
Be guided daily:
– His Word directs their paths and establishes His kingdom within them.
When we submit to His Living Word, He takes the throne of our hearts, and His authority reigns in our lives.
Empowered by the Living Word:
Scripture Reference: Isaiah 55:11.
"So is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it."
God’s Word empowers believers to:
Move from glory to glory:
– There is no limit to the glory God pours out on those who cling to His Word.
Do great things for His kingdom – Those who hold fast to His Living Word are equipped for mighty works.
They will hear His still, small voice, follow it faithfully, and embrace His Word in their hearts, finding life and purpose in Him.
A Crown of Glory:
God has waited patiently for His people to rise, and now is the time He is calling them forth.
They will be His crown and His delight.
No one will be able to hinder them.
These are the people of the Living Word—transformed, empowered, and alive in Him.
Conclusion:
The Living Word of God is not just a text; it is the voice of God speaking life into His people.
Let us not settle for dead knowledge but hunger for His voice in every situation.
When we embrace His Word with open hearts, we will live in His fullness, guided by His Spirit, and empowered for His purposes.
May we be among those who hold fast to His Living Word, becoming vessels of His glory and power.
The Living Word is our life. Let us treasure it, live by it, and allow it to transform us into His likeness.
