THE DANGER OF INSUBORDINATION AND THE CERTAINTY OF DAMNATION By: Major Frank Materu
Key Scripture: 1 Samuel 15:23
"For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because thou hast rejected the word of the Lord, he hath also rejected thee from being king."

Introduction
Insubordination, at its core, is rebellion against divine authority. It is an act of defiance against God's order and will. The Bible is filled with examples of individuals and nations that fell into destruction because of their rebellion. From Lucifer’s prideful fall to Israel’s repeated disobedience, the consequences of rejecting God’s ways are dire.
In this teaching, we will explore the serious nature of insubordination, its consequences, and the necessity of submission to God. We will also examine how insubordination leads to spiritual dullness, corruption, and ultimately, eternal damnation. However, God, in His mercy, offers a way of redemption through repentance and obedience.

Insubordination Leads to Spiritual Death
Romans 6:23
"For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."
Throughout history, God has always given humanity the opportunity to submit to His divine rule. However, many choose to reject His ways and follow their own desires. This insubordination is spiritual death. When people deliberately refuse to obey God, they alienate themselves from His presence and life-giving power. The outcome of such rebellion is spiritual decay and eventual damnation.

The Foolishness of Rebellion
Proverbs 12:15
"The way of a fool is right in his own eyes: but he that hearkeneth unto counsel is wise."
The Bible repeatedly warns that rebellion is foolishness. Those who persist in their own ways, rejecting divine wisdom, are setting themselves up for destruction. In their arrogance, they believe they know better than God, but in reality, they are leading themselves into eternal ruin. True wisdom comes from submission to God and His righteous ways.

God Gives Opportunities for Repentance
2 Peter 3:9
"The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance."
God is merciful and patient. He provides countless opportunities for people to turn from their rebellious ways and seek Him. The Holy Spirit constantly convicts sinners, urging them to repentance. However, when people repeatedly harden their hearts, they eventually become spiritually numb and incapable of responding to God’s call.

The Rebellious Are Like Chaff Before the Wind
Psalm 1:4-5
"The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away. Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous."
The Bible describes the rebellious as chaff—light, meaningless, and easily blown away. They may appear strong and secure for a time, but they will not stand in the day of judgment. Those who persist in rebellion will ultimately face God's wrath, and their lives will end in destruction and damnation.

God’s Kingdom Has No Place for the Rebellious
Matthew 7:21
"Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven."
God’s kingdom is a place of holiness, righteousness, and obedience. Those who refuse to submit to His authority have no place in His presence. Many may claim to be believers, but if their lives are marked by disobedience and rebellion, they are deceiving themselves. True believers follow God's commands and submit to His will.

God Desires Humility and Submission
James 4:7
"Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you."
God is looking for people who are humble and willing to submit to His leadership. Those who recognize their need for His guidance will find life, wisdom, and eternal security. Submission to God brings protection, blessings, and an intimate relationship with Him.

Summary
Rebellion and insubordination are dangerous paths that lead to spiritual blindness, destruction, and eternal damnation. God repeatedly offers humanity the opportunity to repent and submit to His authority. However, those who persist in their rebellious ways will face His judgment. The wise choose to humble themselves before God, knowing that true life is found in submission to Him.

Conclusion
God is not mocked. He has set a clear standard for righteousness and obedience. Those who reject His ways are choosing their own destruction. However, His mercy is available to those who repent and turn to Him. The choice is ours—obedience leading to life or rebellion leading to damnation.
