DO NOT IGNORE THE LORD By Major Frank Materu
Key Scripture: "Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me." (Revelation 3:20, ESV)

Introduction
The message today comes as a clarion call to this generation: Do not ignore the Lord! We live in a time when many have chosen to harden their hearts and close their ears to the voice of God. They disregard His call, reject His guidance, and rebel against His commands, choosing their own ways over His. This willful disobedience is the hallmark of a prideful and sinful generation, and the consequences are dire.
God is loving and merciful, but He is also just. When we ignore Him, we position ourselves for His righteous judgment. This teaching seeks to illuminate the dangers of ignoring God, the blessings of obedience, and the urgency of walking humbly in His ways.

The Great Sin of Ignoring the Lord
“For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry.” (1 Samuel 15:23, KJV)
The scripture reveals that ignoring God is not merely a passive act but an active rebellion. This generation has excelled in tuning out the still small voice of the Spirit, rejecting divine signs, and disregarding the Word of God. Such actions demonstrate arrogance and pride, making it clear that men value their desires above God’s will.
Ignoring God leads to spiritual blindness and places individuals on a path of destruction. As the Word declares, “There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death” (Proverbs 14:12, NKJV).

The Consequences of Ignoring God
“Then they will cry to the Lord, but He will not hear them; He will even hide His face from them at that time, because they have been evil in their deeds.” (Micah 3:4, NKJV)
When men persist in ignoring God, they provoke His wrath. Just as they disregard Him, so will He disregard their cries in the day of their trouble. The same measure of disobedience they have shown will be poured out as retribution.
God’s judgment is swift and just. The rebellious will face devastation, their idols of pride and self-worship will be shattered, and they will reap the consequences of their sin. “God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.” (James 4:6, NKJV).

The Call to Walk in Obedience
“If you are willing and obedient, you shall eat the good of the land.” (Isaiah 1:19, NKJV)
God calls His people to obedience, which is the path to life, blessing, and fellowship with Him. Obedience is not a burden but a gift, as it aligns us with God’s perfect will. When we pay heed to His commands, we position ourselves for His favor and protection, even in the midst of judgment upon the earth.
Obedience is the antidote to the pride and rebellion that characterize this generation. It is an expression of humility and reverence for God, acknowledging that His ways are higher than ours.

The Danger of Self-Worship
“For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy.” (2 Timothy 3:2, NKJV)
This generation is marked by self-worship, where individuals elevate their desires above God’s authority. They refuse to bow the knee to Him, choosing instead to idolize their own understanding, pleasures, and ambitions.
God detests self-worship and will bring low those who exalt themselves. “The pride of man will be humbled, and the loftiness of men will be brought low; the Lord alone will be exalted in that day.” (Isaiah 2:17, NKJV).

Final Word of Encouragement
God’s mercy is available to those who turn to Him in sincerity and truth. “The Lord is near to all who call upon Him, to all who call upon Him in truth.” (Psalm 145:18, NKJV). Trust in His guidance, follow His commands, and experience the peace and blessings of a life aligned with His will.
May we be a generation that honors God and walks in His light. Amen.
