GOD GIVES PEOPLE THE EVIL SHEPHERDS THEY DESIRE By Major. Frank Materu

God Gives People According to Their Desires:

The living God gives humanity what their hearts desire.

When people despise the truth, reject God's counsel, and refuse His correction, He allows them to be ruled by rebellious shepherds—hypocrites, liars, and evildoers.

This is not God's failure but His judgment in response to their own choices.

“Since they hated knowledge and did not choose to fear the Lord; since they would not accept my advice and spurned my rebuke, they will eat the fruit of their ways and be filled with the fruit of their schemes.”

(Proverbs 1:29-31)

God’s people have rejected the truth, shunned the light, and disregarded the opportunity to be restored by Him.

As a result, God turns them over to cruel leaders who lead them to destruction.

However, if the people recognize their errors, cry out to God in repentance, and turn from their wicked ways, He will raise shepherds after His own heart.

Characteristics of Evil Shepherds:

Our generation is filled with false shepherds who claim to lead God's flock but fail to care for it.

Instead, they allow the flock to be devoured, and some even actively participate in its destruction.

These shepherds do not care about God's sheep. They deceive, exploit, and abandon them.

They are agents of the devil, sent to hunt and destroy God’s people.

Tragically, God’s people prefer it this way because their hearts do not long for the truth.

“The righteous choose their friends carefully, but the way of the wicked leads them astray.”(Proverbs 12:26)

God Desires Humility:

The living God calls His people to walk in humility.

He loves those who see themselves as servants of His righteousness and who are willing to do His work with a pure heart.

True humility does not coexist with pride or a desire for recognition.

Instead, God desires His people to “wash the feet of the saints,” serve one another in love, and fulfill His will.

Those who find joy in pleasing God through humility will receive the crown of glory.

A Call to Total Surrender:

God calls His people to abandon selfish desires and fully dedicate themselves to genuine service.

True spiritual work involves feeding the hungry with the bread of life, cleansing sin through the precious blood of Jesus, and clothing the naked with garments of righteousness.

Sadly, false shepherds feed themselves instead of feeding God’s sheep.

They care only for their own needs, neglecting the spiritual nourishment of the flock.

“I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.”

(John 10:11)

Rebuking Spiritual Idolatry:

Many self-proclaimed shepherds have abandoned God’s call to pursue idolatry.

They mislead God’s people with false teachings and worldly desires.

The living God rebukes these shepherds for their pride, greed, and spiritual gluttony.

Are you, who trust in God, willing to become slaves to His righteousness? Are you prepared to lay down your life in true service?

The Call to God’s Work:

For those who long to walk in God’s light, the call is to:

1. Feed the hungry with God’s Word.

2. Wash away sin through the blood of Christ.

3. Clothe the naked with garments of righteousness.

This is the work of true shepherds who remain faithful to God and His flock.

It is a labor that requires self-sacrifice, devotion, and complete dependence on God.

Conclusion

False shepherds will face God's judgment for the destruction they cause.

However, for those who trust in the Lord, He will raise true shepherds—those with the heart of Jesus Christ.

As God’s people, we must abandon our desires for deception and instead hunger for the truth of His Word.

Let us live in humility, doing the will of the Lord with love and faithfulness, for He alone is the true Shepherd.

“I am the good shepherd; I know my sheep and my sheep know me.”

(John 10:14)
