SUBMITTING UNDER THE MIGHTY HAND OF GOD By Major Frank Materu

Key Scripture:

1 Peter 5:6

"Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time; casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you."

Introduction:

In our journey of faith, we often encounter moments where God humbles us. It is not out of cruelty, but out of His love and desire to fill us with His treasures.

Too often, the things of this world cling to us and drain the life out of our spirit. But God’s heart is to rid us of these draining attachments and to pour out His blessings upon us.

Subheading: Freeing Yourself from Worldly Attachments

Hebrews 12:1-2

"Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us." (v. 1)

In our walk with God, we must cast off everything that holds us back. Let go of the burdens and sins that entangle you and move forward by the power of the Holy Spirit. God desires people who live by the Spirit—people who are not weighed down by the things of this world. Only when we shed these attachments can we soar spiritually.

Subheading: Choose Life Over Death

Choose life today. We put ourselves in a world of death by our own choices, but God offers us the eternal life of His presence. Seek Him with all your heart, and you will find life and blessings in abundance. His wisdom is pure and valuable, far more precious than anything the world can offer.

1 Corinthians 1:18

"For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God."

Subheading: The Wisdom of God vs. The Wisdom of the World

The wisdom of this world is foolishness. It will lead to destruction. Live each day as though it were your last.

Do not seek to please yourself, but seek to please God. We may think we know what is best for us, but God’s understanding surpasses ours. Trust Him fully, even when His ways seem contrary to our own desires.

Subheading: Trust in God’s Timing and Process

Luke 14:26-27

"If anyone does not take his cross and follow Me, he cannot be My disciple." (v. 27)

God calls us to follow Him, even through trials and suffering. He will provide everything we need as we trust in Him.

The world may call others great, but true greatness comes in humble service to God.

He calls those who serve Him "beloved" and will bring them close, making them precious in His eyes.

Subheading: The Call to Humble Service

God does not desire recognition from man. He desires that we serve Him in humility, not for the applause of people but for His glory. When we serve Him, we become valuable in His eyes. We must trust in His process and remain faithful, for He is the One who rewards us.

Conclusion:

Faithfulness to God’s Call

Matthew 25:21

"His master said to him, 'Well done, good and faithful servant; you have been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things.'"

God calls us to be faithful and obedient to His will. His words are eternal, and His plans for us are good. Do not try to understand everything all at once. Trust Him to guide you, and continue in the work He has assigned to you. Live with confidence that God can complete His work through you.

As you faithfully serve Him, you will receive His reward—not from the world’s recognition but from His eternal approval. He is the only One who truly matters. Keep your eyes on Him and follow His lead, for He alone is worthy of our trust and obedience.
