LIVING IN THE WAYS OF RIGHTEOUSNESS By Major Frank Materu

Introduction

God calls His people to a life of righteousness—a path defined by humility, obedience, love, and trust in Him. This journey is not always easy; it demands transformation, sacrifice, and a willingness to embrace His divine guidance. Yet, it is through this process that we grow into His likeness and fulfill our purpose as His children.

In this message, we will explore how to live righteously by seeking God’s wisdom, walking in love, remaining steadfast in trials, and exalting Christ above all.

The Path of Humility

True righteousness begins with humility. Those who humble themselves before God open their hearts to His instruction and correction. This path may involve letting go of pride and self-will to fully embrace God’s will.

"The Lord guides the humble in what is right and teaches them his way." (Psalm 25:9, NIV)

God uses challenges to shape our character. Rejoice in these moments, for they are part of His divine plan to refine and strengthen you.

"Blessed is the one whom God corrects; so do not despise the discipline of the Almighty." (Job 5:17, NIV)

Wisdom for the Journey

Righteous living requires wisdom—divine insight that comes only from God. Many who claim to follow Him often stray by pursuing worldly desires, but those who seek His wisdom find clarity and direction.

"The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding." (Proverbs 9:10, NIV)

Ask God for wisdom daily, trusting that He will generously provide what you need to navigate life’s complexities.

Walking in Love

To live righteously is to love others as Christ loved us—with selflessness, compassion, and unwavering commitment. This kind of love reflects God’s character and glorifies His name.

"Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins." (1 Peter 4:8, NIV)

When you abide in God’s love, you become a vessel through which His love flows to others, transforming lives and building His kingdom.

Steadfast in Trials

Life is filled with challenges, but those who trust in God and endure these trials will experience His faithfulness. Trials are not meant to break you but to build your faith and dependence on Him.

"Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope." (Romans 5:3-4, NIV)

Rather than avoiding difficulties, embrace them with gratitude, knowing that God uses them to accomplish His greater purpose in your life.

Exalting Christ Alone

Christ is the cornerstone of righteousness. As His followers, we are called to point others to Him, not to ourselves or human achievements. Only in Christ can people find true salvation and lasting hope.

"Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved." (Acts 4:12, NIV)

Let your life be a testimony of His love and power, drawing others to the Savior.
