Now or Never! By Major Frank Materu
----Main Bible Scripture
"Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation." – 2 Corinthians 6:2 (KJV)
----Introduction
The Living God is calling His people to respond urgently to His call in this moment. The decision to follow Him must not be delayed any longer. There is an increasing sense of spiritual lethargy and procrastination among many who are choosing to live without purpose or direction. While they put off turning to God, their souls grow more restless and dissatisfied. The time is now to repent, to turn to the Way of Eternal Life, and to embrace the fullness of God’s calling. To delay is to risk missing out on the salvation He offers, and to live in spiritual defeat. Today is the day of salvation, and the choice to follow Him must be made now.
----The Danger of Procrastination
Procrastination is a deadly trap. Many are waiting for a more convenient time to turn their hearts toward God, but that time may never come. We do not know when our life on earth will come to an end, and to assume we have endless time is a grave mistake. The longer we delay in choosing God, the more miserable our lives become. We fall into spiritual laziness, distracted by the world and its vanities, and miss the opportunity for eternal life. This spiritual sloth leads to destruction. God desires us to be alert and responsive to His call, not to waste our time on earth in indecision or delay.
"But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day." (Proverbs 4:18)
----Spiritual Laziness and the Devil’s Agenda
Spiritual laziness is a prevalent force in the world today, keeping many in a state of indecision and passivity. The enemy works tirelessly to keep people in this state, promoting a culture of complacency and self-indulgence. Many are enslaved to destructive behaviors such as substance abuse, which dulls their ability to think clearly and make wise decisions. The devil’s agenda is to keep souls bound, unable to make the choice to repent and turn to God. It is vital to recognize this spiritual warfare and to fight against the strongholds that keep people in spiritual sloth.
"Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour." (1 Peter 5:8)
----The False Comfort of the World
The world presents itself as a source of comfort, offering pleasures and distractions that seem to satisfy for a time. However, these things are empty and fleeting. Many people, even those who claim to follow Christ, are more fascinated with the advances of technology and worldly comforts than with the Spirit of God. These distractions can lead us down the broad path of destruction, away from the eternal life that Christ offers. We must not be deceived by the world’s allure, for true fulfillment comes only from a relationship with God.
"For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?" (Matthew 16:26)
----The Ultimate Choice: Life or Death
God has given each of us the ultimate choice—life or death. The call to repentance is urgent, and today is the day to choose life. To continue living in spiritual numbness, under the influence of the world, is to choose death. But to turn to God, to embrace His call and live according to His will, is to choose life and eternal joy in His presence. We cannot afford to wait any longer, for death could come suddenly, and with it the consequences of our choices.
"I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live." (Deuteronomy 30:19)
---Summary
Now is the time to make a decision. Procrastination and spiritual laziness are traps that lead to destruction. The world may offer temporary pleasures, but they cannot satisfy the soul. God calls us to make a choice today, to embrace the life He offers and to turn away from the ways of death. The choice is ours, but we must not delay, for we do not know how much time we have left. The time is now to repent, to seek God, and to walk in the path of eternal life.
----Conclusion
Today is the day of salvation. We must not put off making the decision to follow God, for tomorrow is never guaranteed. To delay is to risk losing the opportunity for eternal life. Let us be vigilant, turn our hearts fully toward God, and choose life. The world may seem enticing, but it is a false comfort that leads to destruction. God’s call is urgent, and He desires that none would perish. Let us respond now, with all our hearts, and choose the Way that leads to life. "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me." (Revelation 3:20)
