Staying True to God’s Call: Keeping Our Vision Pure Amidst Deception By Major. Frank Materu
Main Scripture:
“Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves.” Matthew 7:15
Introduction:
In times like these, God calls His people to stay steadfast, keeping their vision single and unwavering. We live in an era filled with lies and deceit, with false prophets and cunning leaders who lead many astray. Our devotion to God requires vigilance, discernment, and a heart that clings solely to His truth.
1. The Presence of False Prophets and Deceivers
Scripture:
"For false christs and false prophets will rise and show great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect." Matthew 24:24
In today’s world, many who profess to be God’s people are under the sway of those who bring falsehoods. They cling to the words of deceivers, elevating them to positions of influence, even worship, following leaders who shroud them in lies. These deceptions lead to spiritual destruction, blinding people to God's truth.
2. The Danger of Following Cunning and Crafty Men
Scripture:
"Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of such things God’s wrath comes on those who are disobedient." – Ephesians 5:6
Many people fall prey to those who use sweet and enticing words to draw them away from the path of righteousness. These false teachers cause others to walk in darkness and sin, leading their souls astray. By seeking enticement and seduction rather than truth, many find themselves distanced from God.
3. God’s Call for Intercession and Repentance
Scripture:
"If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land."
2 Chronicles 7:14
God is raising a band of intercessors to counteract the darkness. He calls for those who will **cry out in repentance** on behalf of the people, asking that He withholds His wrath. This intercession is crucial for turning hearts back to Him and for helping people recognize the truth that has been clouded by pride and deception.
4. The Importance of True Devotion Over Mere Words
Scripture:
"These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me."Matthew 15:8
Despite claims of devotion, many hearts are far from God. They pursue vanity, revel in darkness, and indulge in iniquity. Such people deceive themselves into thinking they are pleasing God, though their lives reflect the opposite. True devotion requires more than words it demands a life of genuine love, humility, and obedience to God’s ways.
Conclusion:
The times we live in require discernment, prayer, and a sincere heart that seeks God above all else. God is calling us to cast off deceit and cling to Him alone. He is calling for repentance, for a return to holiness, and for a rejection of the lies that lead to destruction. Will we answer this call, or allow ourselves to be swayed by falsehood?
Let us pray for a heart that seeks truth and remains steadfast in the face of deception, that we may truly live as His people, unyielding in faith and unswerving in purpose.
Prayer for Discernment and Steadfastness:
“Lord, grant us wisdom and discernment to see through deception. Help us to keep our hearts pure and our vision fixed upon You. Raise us up as intercessors who cry out for truth and repentance in our world. Amen.”
