SALVATION THROUGH FAITH IN GOD ALONE By: Major Frank Materu
Key Scripture: "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast." (Ephesians 2:8-9)

Introduction
Many people believe that their good deeds, charitable giving, or religious rituals can earn them a place in heaven. They assume that by being "good people," they will be accepted by God. However, the truth of the Gospel teaches us otherwise. The Bible makes it clear that salvation is not a reward for human effort but a gift from God, given freely through faith in Jesus Christ. No amount of personal righteousness, religious works, or financial contributions can replace the redemptive work of Christ on the cross.
We live in a time of great uncertainty and confusion. People seek security in wealth, possessions, or even prophetic predictions, hoping to control their futures. However, true security comes only from God. The world pushes narratives of fear and dependency on human systems, but God's call is for His people to trust in Him completely. This article explores the biblical truth about salvation, faith, and the dangers of self-reliance.

Salvation Is Through Christ Alone
The Bible is clear that Jesus Christ is the only way to salvation. People may attempt to justify themselves through good works, but Scripture reminds us that human righteousness is inadequate before God.
"But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away." (Isaiah 64:6)
This passage reveals that our own efforts are worthless compared to God's holiness. Instead of trusting in their own works, people must come to Jesus, the only door to eternal life.
"Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me." (John 14:6)
Many assume they can "buy" their way into heaven, but the Bible rejects this notion. No amount of money, religious activities, or charitable donations can substitute for a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

Dependence on God, Not Human Effort
In times of trouble, many people place their trust in material things instead of in God. Some believe that they can secure their future through financial preparedness or strategic planning. While wisdom is necessary, ultimate security is found only in God.
"Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the Lord our God." (Psalm 20:7)
As history shows, those who rely on their own strength will eventually fail. The Tower of Babel (Genesis 11:1-9) serves as a perfect example. People tried to build a tower to reach heaven on their own terms, but God scattered them because their trust was in human ability rather than in Him.

Rejecting the Fear and Lies of the World
The media and world systems constantly spread fear, urging people to put their trust in governments, economic strategies, and human solutions. However, God calls His people to stand apart from these deceptions.
"For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind." (2 Timothy 1:7)
Instead of living in fear, believers must trust in God's provision and protection. He alone holds the future, and those who rely on Him will not be put to shame.

God Will Sustain His People
In times of crisis, God remains faithful to those who put their trust in Him. While the world may fall into chaos, God provides stability and direction to His children.
"The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord: and he delighteth in his way." (Psalm 37:23)
The wicked may seem to prosper for a time, but their downfall is certain. Trusting in God guarantees that His people will always have a firm foundation, regardless of external circumstances.

Summary
Salvation is not based on human merit but on faith in Jesus Christ. Many people mistakenly believe they can earn their way into heaven, but the Bible teaches that salvation is a gift from God. Trusting in personal righteousness, wealth, or government systems leads to disappointment. However, those who place their faith in God will be sustained and protected, even in uncertain times.

Conclusion
God calls His people to reject self-reliance and put their full trust in Him. The world promotes fear and deception, but believers must stand firm in faith. Just as the Tower of Babel was a failed attempt to achieve security without God, so too will modern human efforts fail. Instead of fearing the unknown, Christians should rest in God's promises, knowing that He is in control.
