Remaining Faithful to God in a Time of Deception By Major Frank Materu

Main Verse:

"Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful." Hebrews 10:23 (NIV)

1. Walking in Obedience in a Darkened World

God is ever faithful to those who remain steadfast in their commitment to Him, who honor their vows, and who walk in obedience.

In times of darkness, when we see moral collapse all around, it is essential to walk in complete obedience and humility, staying on His path each day.

"Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path."

Psalm 119:105 (NIV)

With humility and a teachable spirit, God will guide, correct, and strengthen those who remain true to Him.

2. Rejecting Deception and Carnality

The world is full of deception, and many have chosen to believe lies, following false messengers and rejecting God’s truth.

They cling to their old, sinful ways instead of embracing the transformative power of God.

By refusing to walk in His light, they kindle His wrath.

"They exchanged the truth about God for a lie and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator."

Romans 1:25 (NIV)

God calls His people to reject lies and to put their old ways to death, walking instead in the purity and truth He provides.

3. Resisting the Temptation to Conform

God delights when His people fight to preserve their identity in Him.

In a time when many are swayed by worldly voices, true believers will refute and rebuke the unfruitful works of darkness.

Our identity is not in the opinions of men but in God alone.

"Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind."

Romans 12:2 (NIV)

Faithfulness requires resisting worldly allurements and standing firm in the truth of God’s word.

4. Thankfulness for God’s Judgments and Justice

God’s judgments are a call for humility and reverence. When wickedness prevails, it is a reminder for humanity to turn back to Him.

Instead of growing neglectful, we are called to **honor God’s justice and learn humility**.

"When your judgments come upon the earth, the people of the world learn righteousness." Isaiah 26:9 (NIV)

A time of hardship under wicked rulers can awaken a deeper reverence for God and inspire repentance.

5. The Privilege of Communion with God

Being in communion with God is a profound privilege. When we remain repentant and humble, we align our hearts with His, avoiding pride and foolishness.

True communion involves respecting God’s sovereignty, cherishing His guidance, and seeking His presence daily.

"The Lord is near to all who call on Him, to all who call on Him in truth."

Psalm 145:18 (NIV)

Every day, God provides the truth and light we need.

In humble repentance, we are protected and kept close to Him, free from the traps of pride and accusations against His character.

Conclusion: Living Faithfully in Times of Deception

In a generation of increasing darkness, God calls us to remain obedient, resist deception, cherish our identity in Him, honor His justice, and value our communion with Him.

May we remain steadfast in faith, trusting that He who promises is always faithful.

"He will cover you with His feathers, and under His wings, you will find refuge; His faithfulness will be your shield and rampart."** - Psalm 91:4 (NIV)
