SEEK GOD AND LIVE! By Major Frank Materu
Key Scripture
“The Lord Almighty has a day in store for all the proud and lofty, for all that is exalted (and they will be humbled);”
– Isaiah 2:12 (NIV)
Introduction
In a world where pride, corruption, and evil seem to dominate, it is crucial to recognize that God is the ultimate authority. He promises to bring down the proud and those who live in contempt of His ways. The message today is clear: seek God, live in humility, and stand firm against evil, for He is the Living God who controls all things.
1. God Judging the Proud
The Living God declares that He will bring down the proud, whether they are few or many. Those who are arrogant, haughty, and boastful against God will not stand. In Isaiah 2:12, it is written:
“The Lord Almighty has a day in store for all the proud and lofty, for all that is exalted (and they will be humbled);” (Isaiah 2:12, NIV).
God’s judgment is certain, and those who set themselves up as kings and lords without acknowledging His authority will face His judgment.
2. Nothing Is Out of God's Control
Despite the presence of evil and wickedness in the world, God assures us that nothing is out of His control. Even when it seems that the wicked have power, He is in charge, and He will purify His people.
As stated in Romans 8:28:
“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” (Romans 8:28, NIV).
God will bring forth a remnant who are true and righteous in His sight. Even in the midst of wickedness, He is working to purify His people.
3. The Right to Fight Against Evil
As believers, we are called to stand firm against evil and not to compromise the standards of righteousness. God has not called us to accommodate sin but to fight against it.
In Ephesians 6:11-13, we are reminded:
“Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.” (Ephesians 6:11-13, NIV).
We must not compromise but instead remain steadfast in our faith and fight the good fight of righteousness.
4. Great Abundance in His Spirit
In times of judgment, God promises great abundance in His Spirit for those who humble themselves and turn to Him. For those who repent, God will abundantly pardon them.
In James 4:6, it is written:
“But he gives us more grace. That is why Scripture says: ‘God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble.’” (James 4:6, NIV).
Those who humble themselves will receive God's favor, while the proud will face His wrath.
5. True Messengers, True Shepherds
God assures us that He has raised up true shepherds, those who will declare His righteousness. These messengers may not be in the limelight, but they will speak the truth in due time.
In Matthew 7:15-16, Jesus warns us:
“Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves. By their fruit you will recognize them.” (Matthew 7:15-16, NIV).
God’s true messengers will bear good fruit, and He will reveal them when the time is right.
Summary
The message is clear: God is in control, and He will judge the proud and the wicked. Those who humble themselves before Him will receive His favor and abundance, while those who remain proud will face judgment. It is essential to stand firm in righteousness and not compromise with evil. God has raised up true messengers who will declare His truth in due season.
