GOD IS JUDGING THE NATIONS WHO HAVE REJECTED HIM By Major Frank Materu

Key Scripture: "The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God." (Psalm 9:17)

Introduction

The sovereignty of God over all nations is evident throughout the Bible. He raises nations and brings them down according to their deeds and their reverence for Him. In these times, we witness the culmination of rebellion, pride, and hatred for the Living God, which has led nations into moral and spiritual decline. As a result, God's judgment is upon those who have rejected Him. This teaching explores the reality of God’s righteous judgment, the consequences of national rebellion, and the call for individuals and nations to return to the Lord.

GOD’S RIGHTEOUS JUDGMENT ON THE NATIONS

"For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness." (Romans 1:18)

God’s judgment is never arbitrary or unjust. He judges nations based on their rejection of His truth and their embrace of wickedness. When nations abandon the moral and spiritual standards established by God, they invite His wrath. This judgment is not merely punitive but also serves as a call to repentance and an acknowledgment of His sovereignty.

THE CONSEQUENCES OF REJECTING GOD

"They are turned back to the iniquities of their forefathers, which refused to hear my words; and they went after other gods to serve them." (Jeremiah 11:10)

Nations that reject God face dire consequences. They descend into moral decay, societal instability, and eventual destruction. The rejection of God’s light leads to spiritual blindness and darkness, which ultimately brings ruin. Generations are affected, as the sins of the fathers are visited upon their children, perpetuating cycles of rebellion and judgment.

THE PRIDE OF NATIONS AND THEIR DOWNFALL

"Pride goeth before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall." (Proverbs 16:18)

Pride is a hallmark of nations that turn away from God. They exalt themselves, trust in their own strength, and disregard the Creator. However, history shows that God resists the proud and brings them low. Nations that once flourished are reduced to ruins when they fail to honor God and acknowledge His authority.

GOD’S CALL TO REPENTANCE

"If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land." (2 Chronicles 7:14)

Even in the midst of judgment, God extends an invitation to repentance. His desire is not to destroy but to restore. Nations and individuals who humble themselves, seek His face, and turn from their wickedness will find mercy and healing. Repentance is the key to escaping God’s wrath and experiencing His grace.

THE ROLE OF GOD’S MESSENGERS

"Cry aloud, spare not, lift up thy voice like a trumpet, and show my people their transgression, and the house of Jacob their sins." (Isaiah 58:1)

In times of judgment, God raises prophets and messengers to warn the nations and call them to repentance. These servants play a critical role in delivering God’s message and guiding people back to Him. However, in their pride, many reject the warnings and harden their hearts, leading to further calamity.
