JUDGMENT AGAINST THE CHURCH By Major. Frank Materu
Key Scripture:
"In the past, God overlooked such ignorance, but now he commands all people everywhere to repent. For he has set a day when he will judge the world with justice by the man he has appointed.
He has given proof of this to everyone by raising him from the dead." (Acts 17:30-31)
God’s Call to Repentance Is Urgent:
For generations, God has extended His mercy and grace, urging His people to turn from their wicked ways.
However, stubborn hearts and deaf ears have led many to reject this call.
Despite claiming to belong to God, they refuse to repent, and because of this rebellion, judgment is imminent.
"The time has come for judgment to begin with God’s household; and if it begins with us, what will the outcome be for those who do not obey the gospel of God?" (1 Peter 4:17)
Judgment Without Boundaries:
God’s judgment will sweep across the earth. It will begin with those who profess His name yet live contrary to His Word.
These individuals have brought shame to the name of Christ, indulging in worldly desires while neglecting the commands of God.
"See, I am beginning to bring disaster on the city that bears my name, and will you indeed go unpunished?
You will not go unpunished, for I am calling down a sword on all who live on the earth, declares the Lord Almighty." (Jeremiah 25:29)
God is weary of persistent disobedience and hypocrisy.
Many who proclaim to love Him are instead lovers of their own ways, embracing the corruption and vanity of this world.
The Consequences of Rebellion:
Rebellion against God leads to devastating consequences.
Those who refuse to walk in His ways justify their sins and believe they are safe, but they are deceived.
"Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter!" (Isaiah 5:20)
In this generation, many have followed their desires into destruction.
God’s judgment will separate the righteous from the wicked.
Those who refuse to leave the company of evildoers will face the consequences of their association.
A Warning to Those in God’s Household:
God’s judgment will begin within His house. The unrepentant—whether young or old, leaders or followers—will not escape His wrath.
"Slaughter the old men, the young men and women, the mothers and children, but do not touch anyone who has the mark. Begin at my sanctuary." (Ezekiel 9:6)
Many who claim to serve God have brought disgrace to His name by their actions.
These false servants, who are wolves in sheep’s clothing, will be exposed for who they truly are.
"Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves. By their fruit, you will recognize them." (Matthew 7:15-16)
A Call to Separate from Evil:
Now is the time for God’s people to separate themselves from wickedness.
Those who remain among the ungodly will risk being defiled and judged alongside them.
"Come out from them and be separate, says the Lord. Touch no unclean thing, and I will receive you." (2 Corinthians 6:17)
God never intended for His children to dwell among corruption and filth.
He calls His people to live holy lives, free from the influence of this perverse generation.
Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in them." (1 John 2:15)
The Closing of God’s Ark of Safety:
As in the days of Noah, God’s ark of safety will soon be closed. Those who fail to repent will find themselves locked out, no matter how desperately they plead.
"Then the Lord shut him in." (Genesis 7:16)
Let us not wait until it is too late. The time to repent and turn to God is now.
His judgment is coming, and only those who are faithful and obedient will be spared.
Final Exhortation:
God is weary of the disobedience and hypocrisy of those who claim to love Him.
The time has come to choose between righteousness and wickedness.
Those who stand firm in their faith will inherit God’s promises, while the rebellious will face His righteous judgment.
"For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." (Romans 6:23)
May we heed God’s call to repentance and walk faithfully in His ways.
The hour is near; let us prepare our hearts and live in reverence of the Almighty God.
For God will bring every deed into judgment, including every hidden thing, whether it is good or evil." (Ecclesiastes 12:14)
