GOD DESIRES HIS GLORY TO FILL THE TEMPLE By Major. Frank Materu
Key Verse: "And the glory of the Lord filled the tabernacle." – Exodus 40:34
Introduction:
God longs to dwell among His people, but He desires to do so in His glory.
Why should God inhabit a temple or dwelling that is void of His presence and majesty?
When God’s people seek Him wholeheartedly, His glory fills the temple, transforming it into a holy sanctuary.
However, many today claim His name yet fail to pursue Him genuinely.
They are distracted by worldly pursuits, neglecting the deeper calling to worship and holiness.
This article explores the significance of seeking God's glory, embracing His presence, and aligning our lives with His holy standards.
Let us be challenged to pursue God with unwavering devotion, allowing His glory to fill every area of our lives.
The Glory of God Fills the Temple:
Scripture Reference: 2 Chronicles 7:12.
When Solomon completed the temple and offered sacrifices, the glory of God descended, and the priests could not enter because of the overwhelming presence of the Lord.
This is the kind of manifestation God desires among His people today.
God’s presence thrives where His people are devoted.
When we consecrate ourselves, setting aside worldly distractions, His glory fills not just physical buildings but the temple of our hearts (1 Corinthians 6:19).
Let us not be like those who merely proclaim His name yet remain spiritually lifeless because they pursue Sodom and Egypt, symbols of sin and rebellion.
The Consecration That Invites God's Glory.
Scripture Reference:
Romans 12:12
God’s glory dwells where there is holiness.
To experience His transformative presence, His people must present themselves as living sacrifices, holy and acceptable to Him.
This consecration requires:
1. Wholehearted Worship:
God delights in those who seek His face with sincerity.
When we kneel before Him in prayer and fasting, we prepare a dwelling for His glory (Psalm 27:4).
2. Turning Away from Sin:
Just as the Israelites had to purify themselves before encountering God, we must abandon pride, selfish ambitions, and sinful desires.
As James 4:8 says,
"Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you doubleminded."
Drinking from the Cup of God's Presence:
Scripture Reference: Psalm 16:11
God invites His people to partake of the joy found in His presence.
“You will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand.”
His presence is not just a privilege; it is a lifeline for those who long to experience Him fully.
Let us linger in His presence.
In our fastpaced lives, it is easy to prioritize schedules over seeking God.
Yet, when we pause to drink deeply from His Spirit, we find refreshment, joy, and purpose (Isaiah 55:13).
The Cry of the Holy Spirit:
Scripture Reference: Romans 8:26-27
The Holy Spirit intercedes with groanings too deep for words.
He yearns for us to yield to God’s will, leading us toward repentance, restoration, and revival.
Are we willing to listen to His cry and align ourselves with His purpose?
Do not silence the Spirit’s call.
Many ignore the promptings of the Holy Spirit, choosing instead to focus on earthly achievements.
But God calls us to be vessels through which His Spirit can move, bringing healing, salvation, and hope to a broken world.
Living in the Glory of God:
Scripture Reference: John 15:45
To remain in God’s glory, we must abide in Him.
Just as a branch cannot bear fruit apart from the vine, we cannot thrive spiritually without a continuous connection to God.
His glory is not a onetime experience but a daily pursuit of His presence.
Conclusion:
God’s desire is clear: His glory must fill His temple.
This temple is not limited to a physical structure but extends to our lives, our homes, and our communities.
Let us reject complacency and embrace the call to holiness, prayer, and worship.
As we do, God’s glory will descend, transforming us and drawing others into His marvelous light (1 Peter 2:9).
May we, as His chosen people, seek Him with all our hearts, allow His Spirit to guide us, and live in the fullness of His glory. Amen.
