MASTERS OF MISDIRECTION By Major Frank Materu
Key Scripture:
"There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death." – Proverbs 14:12 (NKJV)
Introduction:
In this generation of wickedness, perversion, and darkness, many have forgotten the sovereignty of the Living God. They have chosen paths that lead them into destruction, following their own pride and disobedience rather than the truth that brings life. This lesson brings forth the warning from the Almighty about the consequences of rebellion and misdirection. It is a call to examine our choices, our pride, and the idols we set up in our lives, for they lead to our ruin if we do not turn to God and walk in His ways.

The Danger of Choosing Wickedness
In these times, men and nations have forgotten the power of God and turned to their own ways, full of pride and arrogance. They assume that their choices will not have consequences, but God’s Word is clear: He can utterly destroy those who choose the way of rebellion. When men forsake His path, they choose their own destruction.
“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” – Romans 6:23 (NKJV)

The Consequences of Walking Far from God
God never intended for man to be destroyed or overwhelmed by his choices, but by walking away from the truth, man sets himself on a path of destruction. Those who refuse to repent, reject God’s mercy, and continue in their sin will find themselves in a devastating condition, far removed from the truth, light, and mercy of God.
“The soul who sins shall die.” – Ezekiel 18:20 (NKJV)

God’s Wrath Against the Wicked
The Living God is a righteous judge, and He will bring down those who rebel against Him. Those who choose idols and reject the true living God will face His wrath and indignation. The Bible speaks of His ability to utterly devastate and eradicate those who walk in rebellion, for they are an abomination in His sight.
“The Lord is known by the judgment He executes; the wicked are snared in the work of their own hands.” – Psalm 9:16 (NKJV)

The Call to Choose Life Through Obedience
God calls His people to walk in the way of life that He provides, not in the way of pride and destruction. The righteous are those who acknowledge God’s sovereignty and choose to live according to His truth. It is not in pride or self-reliance that we find life, but in humble submission to God’s ways.
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.” – Proverbs 3:5-6 (NKJV)

The Destruction of Idols and False Security
Those who continue to worship idols and trust in their own understanding will be devastated by the very idols they cling to. The false sense of security they have built will crumble when God chooses to act. The pride of man will not save him in the day of God’s judgment.
“Their idols are silver and gold, the work of men's hands. They have mouths, but they do not speak; eyes they have, but they do not see.” – Psalm 115:4-5 (NKJV)

Summary:
This teaching reminds us that the choice to walk in opposition to God’s truth leads to destruction. As we see in the Scripture, those who rebel against God, relying on their own understanding, will face devastating consequences. God, in His mercy, calls us to repent and return to His ways, for He is the one who grants life. Those who choose idols and pride are only setting themselves up for devastation, while those who walk in obedience to His Word find peace, truth, and eternal life.

Conclusion:
The path we choose today will determine our future. We must recognize that there is no true security apart from God. Those who walk in rebellion will face God’s wrath, while those who humble themselves before Him will be lifted up. Let us choose to walk in His truth, trust in His sovereignty, and obey His commands.
