THE CONSEQUENCES OF REJECTING DIVINE CORRECTION By: Major Frank Materu

Key Scripture: Proverbs 1:23-26

"Turn at my rebuke; surely I will pour out my spirit on you; I will make my words known to you. Because I have called and you refused, I have stretched out my hand and no one regarded, because you disdained all my counsel, and would have none of my rebuke, I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your terror comes."

INTRODUCTION

Throughout history, nations and individuals who have known God and chosen to turn away from Him have faced dire consequences. The rejection of divine correction leads to destruction, as rulers and people alike yield to the dictates of their own flesh and demonic influences. The commandments of God are designed to guide humanity in righteousness, ensuring peace and stability. However, when people forsake these principles, they invite chaos, devastation, and ultimately, eternal damnation.

God did not create humanity to be controlled by demonic forces, yet due to rebellion, many have become slaves to darkness. The expansion of hell’s borders is a direct result of people refusing correction and embracing the way of destruction. This article will explore the devastating consequences of rejecting divine correction and the importance of heeding God's call to righteousness.

THE CHOICE BETWEEN LIFE AND DEATH

Deuteronomy 30:19

"I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live."

Every person has the freedom to choose between obedience and rebellion. God has made His will clear, offering the path of life and blessing. Yet, many choose the road of destruction, lured by the deceptive promises of sin. When a person continually rejects God’s correction, they eventually reach a point where their hearts are hardened, and their fate is sealed.

The leaders of nations, when driven by lust, greed, and demonic control, pave the way for destruction. Their decisions affect entire populations, leading them into the snares of suffering. The rejection of God is not just an individual issue; it impacts families, communities, and nations.

THE DANGERS OF DEMONIC INFLUENCE

Ephesians 6:12

"For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places."

When people reject God’s correction, they unknowingly open themselves up to demonic oppression. The devil and his forces seek to manipulate and control those who turn away from God. Such individuals become instruments of darkness, promoting lawlessness, corruption, and violence.

This influence is evident in world leaders who engage in oppressive policies, war-mongering, and the shedding of innocent blood. Demonic deception blinds them, leading them further into destruction. The consequences of such rebellion manifest in societal decay, immorality, and the loss of moral compass.

THE ENLARGEMENT OF HELL’S BORDERS

Isaiah 5:14

"Therefore Sheol has enlarged itself and opened its mouth beyond measure; their glory and their multitude and their pomp, and he who is jubilant, shall descend into it."

God never intended for humanity to perish in eternal damnation. However, as multitudes continue to reject Him, hell expands to accommodate those who have chosen destruction. The consequences of sin are not only seen in the physical world but also in eternity.

People who persist in sin and rebellion become captives of demonic forces, leading them deeper into depravity. Their moral, spiritual, and emotional states are corrupted, leaving them vulnerable to further deception. The sad reality is that many who once knew God have allowed themselves to be drawn away, only to find themselves enslaved by the very sins they once despised.

GOD'S DESIRE FOR MERCY AND RESTORATION

Lamentations 3:22-23

"Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness."

Despite humanity’s rebellion, God still extends His mercy. He desires that all people come to repentance and receive His grace. However, His mercy is only for those who are willing to turn from their wicked ways and embrace righteousness.

Those who heed His correction will experience His faithfulness, protection, and blessings. God longs to lead His people in the path of peace, but they must be willing to submit to His divine order.

SUMMARY

Rejecting God’s correction leads to destruction, both in this life and in eternity. Nations that turn away from God suffer under oppressive leadership, war, and chaos. Individuals who refuse to heed divine warnings open themselves to demonic influence, leading to moral and spiritual degradation. Hell continues to expand as more people choose rebellion over obedience. Yet, despite this, God’s mercy remains available for those who turn back to Him.
