SEEKING UNITY WITH GOD  By Major Frank Materu

Key Scripture:

"Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you."

(Matthew 7:7, NIV)

 Introduction

God desires that His people would seek Him continuously through prayer, for we live in times when many have ceased to seek His face. Instead, they pursue the things of this world.

God longs for His people to earnestly seek Him, to cry out to Him in prayer, and to desire His presence above all else.

When we seek God with all our hearts, He will fill us. His desire is to reveal Himself to us, to share His glory, and to lead us into deeper fellowship with Him. Yet, too many remain unaware of the abundant life He offers, unaware of the indwelling power of His Holy Spirit.

 1. The Urgency of Seeking God

Key Scripture:

"You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart."

(Jeremiah 29:13, NIV)

In the midst of life's challenges, we often find ourselves troubled and burdened. Many of our struggles stem from the fact that we have not sought God’s wisdom or His guidance. God wants us to come to Him in persistent prayer, longing to be filled with His presence.

When we seek Him, He will reveal Himself to us and provide the wisdom we need for every situation. Let us not chase after the fleeting things of this world, but instead, seek the eternal treasures that come from walking with God.

 2. The Privilege of Fellowship with God

Key Scripture:

"That which we have seen and heard we proclaim also to you, so that you too may have fellowship with us; and indeed our fellowship is with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ."

(1 John 1:3, ESV)

God has given us the privilege of close fellowship with Him.

He created us in His image and desires to walk with us.

Through prayer, we can share in His life, His glory, and His eternal purposes.

God does not withhold Himself from us, but invites us into a deep and intimate relationship.

This fellowship is a beautiful gift; let us not neglect it. When we draw near to God, He draws near to us, and He reveals His plans for our lives.

 3. The Consequences of Failing to Seek God

Key Scripture:

"But the one who does not know the Lord will perish, and his portion will be with the wicked."

(Psalm 9:17, NIV)

Failure to seek God leads to spiritual emptiness and decay.

Many are burdened by the troubles of this world because they have neglected to seek God's face.

Our lives are incomplete without Him, and when we fail to seek His guidance, we miss out on the fullness He has for us.

God desires to lift our burdens and to help us carry our load. When we come before Him with open hearts, He will give us rest and peace.

 4. The Importance of Seeking the Lord’s Counsel

Key Scripture:

"Listen to advice and accept instruction, that you may gain wisdom in the future."

(Proverbs 19:20, ESV)

In life, we often face decisions that require divine wisdom.

God’s counsel is always available to those who seek it. Instead of relying on our own understanding or pride,

we must turn to God for guidance. His wisdom is greater than our own, and He knows the best path for our lives.

When we seek God’s counsel, He will guide us in righteousness. He desires to show us the way to go and to lead us in His perfect will.

 5. The True Source of Answers

Key Scripture:

"I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."

(John 14:6, NIV)

In this world, many seek answers from various sources. However, the true answer to every question and need is found in God.

He is the way, the truth, and the life. When we seek Him, we will find the truth that leads to life eternal.

God is the ultimate answer to every question and concern.

We need not look to others for solutions; instead, we must turn to Him, knowing that He holds all wisdom and understanding.

 6. Humbling Ourselves Before God

Key Scripture:

"Humble yourselves before the Lord, and He will lift you up."

(James 4:10, NIV)

God calls His people to humility. When we humble ourselves before Him in prayer, we position ourselves to receive His guidance and blessings.

Pride and selfreliance keep us from God’s best, but humility opens the door to His grace and favor.

True humility involves seeking God’s will, not our own. As we humble ourselves, God lifts us and empowers us to fulfill His purpose for our lives.

 7. The Promise of God's Presence

Key Scripture:

"The Lord is near to all who call on Him, to all who call on Him in truth."

(Psalm 145:18, NIV)

God promises that He is near to those who call on Him in truth. When we seek God with sincerity and a pure heart, He responds with His presence.

There is no greater joy than to be in God’s presence, for it is in His presence that we find peace, rest, and renewal.

Let us approach God with a heart of sincerity, and He will draw near to us. His presence is our strength, and His love will sustain us through every trial.

 Conclusion

Seeking God is not a onetime event but a continuous journey.

As we persistently seek Him through prayer, humility, and worship, we will experience His fullness in our lives.

Let us not grow weary in seeking the Lord, but press on with fervency, knowing that He will reveal Himself to those who earnestly seek Him.

May we always remember that God is our answer, our guide, and our source of all wisdom.

Let us seek His counsel, walk in His ways, and experience the blessings of His presence.
