What Is a Soldier?

A soldier is someone engaged in military service— a skilled warrior, a militant leader, follower, or worker. In the context of God's work, a soldier is one used as an instrument in His hands to combat the enemy.

God's Plan and the Fallen State

Since the fall of man, God has crafted a plan to restore dominion lost through sin. Today, many believers are held captive by the enemy, with Satan spreading fear and terror. Even those who should be strong in the Lord are paralyzed by the enemy's tactics.

The Call to Arms

God is calling forth a Militant Band, an Army to engage in spiritual warfare for the souls of men. This call is for those who will wholeheartedly join the Army of God. Responding to this call involves:

  1. Heartfelt Commitment: Not merely a mental decision but a deep-seated resolve to allow God to write His truth on our hearts.
  2. Unity with Christ: Marching in unity with Jesus Christ as our Commander in Chief, resisting the Devil, the world, and the carnal mind.
  3. Spiritual Warfare: Arming ourselves with spiritual weapons to dismantle the enemy’s strongholds, standing in boldness and His might.

The True Soldier's Path

A true soldier of God will:

  1. Seek Obedience: Embrace God’s call for obedience over personal comfort or the “do your own thing” mindset.
  2. Endure Trials: Face suffering, persecution, and the shame of the cross, understanding that through these, they align with Christ's path to victory.
  3. Reject Passivity: Move beyond a complacent view of God to embrace His fighting spirit, battling against Satan for the souls of humanity.

The Call to Combat

Soldiers must:

  1. Engage Willingly: Be ready to forsake all and follow Jesus, carrying their cross daily.
  2. Endure Hardship: Be prepared to endure difficulty as good soldiers, losing their life to gain His.
  3. Recognize Real Warfare: Understand that the battle is not a game but a serious struggle for the souls of men and women.

Overcoming the Enemy

The enemy will employ various tactics to discourage us and keep us from realizing our authority in Christ. However:

  1. Strength in Christ: We can stand strong in the knowledge of the power in Jesus’ name.
  2. Claim New Territory: Instead of falling into the enemy’s traps, we are called to claim new ground for Jesus.
