SIGNS, WONDERS, AND MIRACLES ARE HERE! By: Major. Frank Materu
Key Scripture: Matthew 16:1-4
"The Pharisees and Sadducees came to Jesus and tested him by asking him to show them a sign from heaven. He replied, ‘When evening comes, you say, “It will be fair weather, for the sky is red,” and in the morning, “Today it will be stormy, for the sky is red and overcast.”
You know how to interpret the appearance of the sky, but you cannot interpret the signs of the times. A wicked and adulterous generation looks for a sign, but none will be given it except the sign of Jonah.’ Then Jesus left them and went away."
(Matthew 16:1-4)
Introduction:
For a very long time, men and women have cried out to showcase themselves through signs, wonders, and miracles, rather than crying out for God Himself.
This demonstrates that they have not truly desired to know God, to dwell in Him, or to share in His presence.
Instead, they seek to glorify themselves.
People have grown tired of seeking God for His power and might; instead, they have resorted to self-promotion.
Year after year, they continue to create displays of arrogance, foolishness, and ignorance, using God’s name to justify their acts.
God has withdrawn from their performances because He is displeased with humanity.
"Look, your house is left to you desolate. For I tell you, you will not see me again until you say, 'Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.'” (Matthew 23:38-39)
True Worship vs. Seeking Signs:
Those who truly love and serve God, and desire to know Him as He is, are the ones who walk in repentance and remain repentant before Him.
God is tired of those who chase after signs and miracles, for they are described as a wicked and perverse generation.
When people fail to seek to please God, love Him, and understand His forgiving grace, they prove themselves unworthy of Him.
God has given humanity signs, wonders, and miracles—but what have they done with them?
Instead of glorifying God, they have used His miracles to gain wealth, seeking personal profit through shameful acts.
In their greed, they have grieved God to the point that He has withdrawn His presence from them.
The Danger of Seeking Miracles for Selfish Gain:
When a person pursues God only for signs, wonders, and miracles, they demonstrate that they do not truly know Him.
Such individuals are not seeking God but rather an opportunity for self-glory.
God is fed up with this behavior.
For a long time, people have served God only to elevate themselves.
This is foolishness in the sight of God.
He is calling those who will humble themselves before Him and walk in His ways.
God is searching for genuine followers, not hypocrites.
Corruption of God’s Works:
When we observe what men and women have done with the gifts God placed on earth to reveal His power, we see how they have corrupted and defiled them.
Instead of glorifying God, they have sought to steal His glory and accumulate wealth.
The widespread corruption, greed, and evil in religious spaces explain why God has distanced Himself.
He has left such people in their ignorance, foolishness, and darkness.
"But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and harmful lusts which drown men in destruction and perdition.
For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, for which some have strayed from the faith in their greediness, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows." (1 Timothy 6:9-10)
A Call to True Repentance:
God’s current actions are a call to repentance to avoid destruction.
However, if people arrogantly refuse to repent, they are positioning themselves for God’s wrath and judgment.
Some cry out for the return of signs, wonders, and miracles, yet they fail to recognize what God is doing in this season.
These individuals are blind to the reality that God is actively revealing His anger while simultaneously extending a call for repentance to those who have ears to hear.
"From that time on Jesus began to preach, 'Repent, for the kingdom of heaven has come near.'"(Matthew 4:17)
The Danger of Self-Glorification:
For too long, people have moved away from God, believing they can dictate His actions.
They have set themselves up as kings and rulers in their own right, insisting that God follow their commands.
The level of pain and grief caused by humanity, especially by those who claim to be God’s people, is immense.
By rejecting God’s way, they have allowed demonic works to infiltrate their gatherings.
We live in a time where many who claim to be children of God are far from Him.
They refuse to walk in repentance, submit to God, or allow Him to lead.
Instead, they persist in their own ways, which is offensive and shameful in God’s sight.
God Seeks True Worshipers:
God is seeking true worshipers, not those who are hypocrites and pretenders.
He calls His people to humility, repentance, and a genuine walk in righteousness.
These remnants will long to please God, regardless of the cost.
For too long, people have sought to dictate God’s movements and use His name for their selfish ambitions.
But God is looking for those who will humbly submit to Him and walk uprightly in His presence.
Conclusion:
Do not cry out for signs, wonders, and miracles. Instead, develop a longing for God Himself.
In His perfect timing, He will reveal His power to those who patiently seek and wait for Him.
Those seeking displays of pride and entertainment will find themselves rejected by God.
God is calling for a revolution of repentance, a return to Him in humility and truth. "Redeem the time, for the days are evil."
Walk in repentance and pursue God with all your heart, for it is only through true humility and faith that we can experience His presence.
