GOD\'S INSTRUCTIONS PART-2 By Major. Frank Materu
Key Verse:
“For the Lord gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding.” – Proverbs 2:6
Introduction
God's purpose has always been to guide His people, instilling wisdom and discipline, so they may live fruitful, long lives.
However, many reject His instructions, choosing paths of selfdestruction instead.
This message is a reminder of the lifegiving power of God's directions and the consequences of turning away from them.
Let us heed His call, embrace His guidance, and walk in His light, for His instructions are the pathway to abundant life.
A Life of Discipline:
– Discipline shapes us to walk in God’s ways and align our lives with His will.
A Relationship with God:
– His instructions connect us to Him, enabling us to experience His fullness.
Abundant Fruitfulness:
– By following His guidance, we flourish spiritually, emotionally, and physically.
Scripture Reference:
Jeremiah 29:11
"For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."
The Tragedy of Rejecting God's Instructions:
In this generation, many have turned away from God’s directions, choosing instead;
Selfindulgence:
– Pursuing fleshly desires without restraint.
Rebellion
– Rejecting correction and discipline from God’s Spirit.
Deception
– Believing lies and walking blindly into destruction.
The result?
Spiritual death, where the soul disconnects from God.
Premature physical death, as people stray from His protective guidance.
Eternal separation, as sin leads them away from His presence.
Scripture Reference:
Proverbs 14:12
"There is a way that appears to be right, but in the end it leads to death."
God’s Heartache Over Rebellion:
Scripture Reference: Hosea 4:6
"My people are destroyed from lack of knowledge."
God is grieved when His people reject His instructions:
He mourns their refusal to follow His lifegiving path.
He sees their stubbornness and rebellion leading them to destruction.
He desires their repentance, but they continue to embrace lies and darkness.
A WakeUp Call:
Rejecting God’s instructions is an act of foolishness, as it leads to spiritual and physical ruin.
Yet God, in His mercy, continues to call His people back to Him.
The Blessing of Embracing God’s Guidance:
God’s instructions are not burdensome.
Instead, they are given to bring life, peace, and joy:
- A Pathway to Life:
- – His guidance leads to eternal life and a life of abundance.
2. A Source of Peace:
– Obedience to His Word brings inner peace that surpasses understanding.
3. A Cause for Joy:
– Walking in His ways brings true fulfillment and happiness.
Scripture Reference: Psalm 19:78
"The law of the Lord is perfect, refreshing the soul. The statutes of the Lord are trustworthy, making wise the simple. The precepts of the Lord are right, giving joy to the heart."
The Danger of Pride and Disobedience:
Pride blinds people to the truth, making them reject God’s wisdom.
They think they know better than God.
They pursue their desires at the expense of their souls.
They misinterpret pleasure as freedom, yet it leads to destruction.
Disobedience results in chaos, pain, and ultimately, death.
Spiritual Death:
– A life disconnected from God.
Eternal Judgment:
– Separation from Him in eternity.
A Call to Humility and Obedience:
God calls us to humility, to recognize our need for His guidance and follow His instructions.
His ways are:
Perfect:
– Leading us in truth and righteousness.
Full of Mercy:
– Offering forgiveness and restoration to those who turn to Him.
LifeGiving:
– Bringing joy, peace, and abundance to those who obey.
Scripture Reference:
Deuteronomy 30:16
"For I command you today to love the Lord your God, to walk in obedience to him, and to keep his commands, decrees and laws; then you will live and increase, and the Lord your God will bless you in the land you are entering to possess."
