THE CHURCH HAS BEEN DECEIVED By Major. Frank Materu

"Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them. It is shameful even to mention what the disobedient do in secret." (Ephesians 5:11-12)

Introduction:

Today, many who claim to be Christians are participating in the fruitless deeds of darkness.

They have turned to lies and deception, becoming blind and stumbling into destruction.

Worse still, they lead others down the same path, ending in ruin.

This article is a call to genuine believers to separate themselves from the corrupt and deceitful.

If you love Jesus, flee from those who masquerade as God’s people but are entrenched in ungodliness.

True followers of Christ do not compromise with falsehood or evil but remain steadfast in the truth.

Falsehoods in the Church:

“I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener. He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit... If you do not remain in me, you are like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire, and burned.” (John 15:1-2, 6)

Many churches today are filled with dead branches.

They boast of their achievements and claim to have won countless souls for Christ, yet their deeds prove otherwise.

These congregations are often little more than storehouses of dead branches—fruitless and destined for destruction.

Their teachings focus on human wisdom, psychology, and worldly lies rather than the Word of God.

They lead people away from faith in God and toward trust in human reasoning.

This distortion of the gospel only multiplies sin, leaving people spiritually lost.

The Hypocrisy Within:

The so-called Church is sometimes worse than the sinful world it seeks to save.

Pride, pretense, and worldly conformity dominate where holiness and humility should reign.

These churches claim to belong to Christ, but in reality, they are far from Him.

They have built houses of destruction that mislead and spiritually destroy souls.

God, however, sees through their hypocrisy. He continues to call them to repentance:

“God is patient, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.” (2 Peter 3:9)

A Call to True Believers:

If you truly love Jesus, separate yourself from the corrupt.

Do not follow deceitful leaders or false teachings.

“Therefore, come out from among them and be separate,” says the Lord.

“Touch no unclean thing, and I will receive you.” (2 Corinthians 6:17)

True Christians love the truth, walk in the light, and reject the works of darkness.

They are not afraid to confront sin, expose lies, and stand firm for God’s Word.

“The Word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.” (Hebrews 4:12)

Conclusion:

The Church must return to its foundation in Christ.

It is only through repentance and unwavering commitment to God’s truth that we can avoid deception and destruction.

Do not be deceived by empty words or corrupted leaders.

Instead, cling to the Word of God, which alone has the power to cleanse, restore, and save.

Stand firm in your faith, love the light, and expose the darkness.

“Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” (John 8:32)

May God grant His Church the grace to recognize deception and walk in truth, as we await the glorious return of our Lord Jesus Christ.
