THE CONSEQUENCES OF REJECTING GOD: A CALL TO RIGHTEOUSNESS By: Major Frank Materu

Key Scripture: Romans 1:24-28 (KJV)

"Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves: Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen. For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet. And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient."

INTRODUCTION

God created humanity with a divine purpose—to honor, worship, and live according to His will. However, when people reject His commandments and pursue their own desires, they degrade themselves to the level of beasts. Without God, men, women, and children live meaningless lives, indulging in sin and defilement, which ultimately leads to destruction. This lesson explores the dangers of rejecting God's ways, the spiritual decay that follows, and the consequences of such choices. It also highlights the importance of remaining faithful and pure in God's sight, walking in righteousness rather than falling into the abyss of sin.

THE FOLLY OF LIVING WITHOUT GOD

Psalm 14:1 (KJV)

"The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good."

Many have chosen to live without God, seeking their own pleasures and turning away from His statutes. Such individuals are spiritually blind and open themselves to demonic influences. They prioritize their fleshly desires over divine purpose, leading to moral and spiritual decay.

THE DANGER OF IDOLATRY AND CARNAL INDULGENCE

Exodus 20:3-5 (KJV)

"Thou shalt have no other gods before me. Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the Lord thy God am a jealous God."

Those who forsake God often turn to idols, whether in the form of material possessions, power, or perverse desires. Idolatry leads to abominable practices, where people yield themselves to wicked influences and perverse lusts. This departure from God results in a life of sin, devoid of true meaning and fulfillment.

THE CONSEQUENCES OF MORAL PERVERSION

Leviticus 18:22-25 (KJV)

"Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination. Neither shalt thou lie with any beast to defile thyself therewith: neither shall any woman stand before a beast to lie down thereto: it is confusion. Defile not ye yourselves in any of these things: for in all these the nations are defiled which I cast out before you."

When people refuse to submit to God's laws, they become victims of their own sinful desires. Sexual perversion and unnatural relationships become widespread, leading to spiritual contamination and destruction. The more humanity embraces wickedness, the further they drift from God's protection, exposing themselves to His judgment.

THE CONSEQUENCES OF REJECTING GOD'S ORDER

2 Thessalonians 2:10-12 (KJV)

"And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness."

Those who deliberately reject God's order are given over to reprobate minds, embracing wickedness without restraint. Such individuals suffer both spiritually and physically, as their sinful ways bring upon them suffering, destruction, and eternal separation from God.

SUMMARY

Rejecting God leads to moral decay, spiritual blindness, and ultimately eternal condemnation. Idolatry, sexual perversion, and rebellion against God's laws bring forth judgment and destruction. However, those who choose to walk uprightly in God's ways will be blessed and protected.

CONCLUSION

God does not desire for anyone to perish, but for all to come to repentance. Yet, He will not force His will upon those who refuse to honor Him. The path of righteousness is one of obedience, purity, and faithfulness, while the path of rebellion leads to destruction. Every individual must choose whom they will serve.
