THE CALL TO FAITH By: Major Frank Materu

Key Scripture: “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” — 2 Timothy 1:7

Introduction

In these times of uncertainty, fear has become a dominant force shaping the decisions, actions, and even the faith of many. The world is filled with messages of chaos, war, financial instability, and disease, all designed to instill fear and weaken the resolve of God’s people. Yet, as believers, we are not called to live in fear but in faith.

The Word of God is our greatest weapon, sharper than any two-edged sword, dividing between truth and deception (Hebrews 4:12). Those who stand firm in their faith and reject the influence of lawlessness and rebellion will experience the peace and protection of the Almighty.

This teaching explores the necessity of trusting in God amid global turmoil, rejecting fear, standing against lawlessness, and embracing the victorious life that Christ has secured for us.

THE POWER OF THE WORD: OUR SPIRITUAL WEAPON

“For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.” — Hebrews 4:12

The Word of God is not merely a collection of religious texts; it is a living force that empowers believers to discern between truth and falsehood. It is our primary weapon in spiritual warfare, enabling us to combat deception, overcome fear, and walk in divine wisdom.

When we actively use God’s Word, we gain clarity in discerning good from evil. The enemy thrives in confusion, but God’s Word illuminates the path of righteousness and guards our hearts against the influences of darkness.

REJECTING THE SPIRIT OF FEAR

“Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.” — Isaiah 41:10

Fear is one of the enemy’s greatest tools to control humanity. Fear of the future, fear of financial instability, fear of war, and fear of disease all contribute to a society bound in anxiety and despair. Yet, as God’s people, we are called to trust in Him and reject this spirit of fear.

The forces of darkness use media and global events to instill fear, but we must remember that God is sovereign over all things. Fear leads to panic, while faith leads to peace. Those who truly rely on God will not be shaken by the instability of the world but will remain steadfast, knowing that He is their refuge.

THE CONSEQUENCES OF LAWLESSNESS AND REBELLION

“Because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold.” — Matthew 24:12

The world is in a state of spiritual and moral decay because people have chosen to reject God’s authority. Lawlessness is rampant, and many are turning away from righteousness to embrace rebellion. This has resulted in violence, confusion, and a deep sense of hopelessness.

When people abandon God’s truth, they fall into deception, believing lies that promote sin and self-destruction. Those who refuse to repent are given over to fear, depression, and despair because they have cut themselves off from the source of true peace—Jesus Christ.

GOD’S PROTECTION FOR HIS PEOPLE

“The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous run to it and are safe.” — Proverbs 18:10

Amid the turmoil, God provides a place of refuge for His people. The wicked may be consumed by fear, but those who trust in the Lord will be preserved. He is our high tower, shielding us from the attacks of the enemy.

To remain under God’s protection, we must stay close to Him in prayer, obedience, and faith. The enemy seeks to wear down the righteous through trials and temptations, but when we remain steadfast, we will experience God’s strength and deliverance.

TRUE RICHES: STORING TREASURES IN HEAVEN

“Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven.” — Matthew 6:19-20

Many in the world chase after material wealth, believing it will provide security. However, true security comes from God, not earthly riches. Those who trust in materialism will find themselves empty and vulnerable when their wealth fails them.

God provides for His children, but He calls us to focus on storing up heavenly treasures rather than earthly possessions. True satisfaction comes from the bread of life that Christ gives, not from worldly goods that perish.

Salvation Prayer

If you have never given your life to Jesus Christ, now is the time to do so. Say this prayer from your heart:

"Lord Jesus, I acknowledge that I am a sinner in need of salvation. I believe that You died on the cross for my sins and rose again on the third day. Today, I surrender my life to You. Come into my heart, be my Lord and Savior, and lead me in the way of righteousness. Fill me with Your Holy Spirit and give me the strength to walk in faith. Thank You for Your love, grace, and forgiveness. In Jesus’ name, Amen."
