Dumb by Choice: The Tragedy of Rejecting God’s Light By: Major Frank Materu
Key Scripture:
"The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good." (Psalms 14:1)

Introduction
The world today is in a state of spiritual blindness, where multitudes have deliberately rejected the Light of God and embraced darkness. This rejection is not due to ignorance but to a conscious decision to abandon God's wisdom and follow their own desires. Many choose to silence their conscience and give themselves over to pagan ways, believing that they will find fulfillment. However, this only leads them into deeper sin, despair, and ultimately destruction. The tragedy of being "dumb by choice" is a result of people rejecting divine truth in favor of deception.
God has given humanity free will, but He also warns of the consequences of making foolish choices. When people choose sin over righteousness, they open themselves to demonic influence and spiritual ruin. The devil's agenda has always been the same: to kill, steal, and destroy (John 10:10). This lesson explores the dangers of rejecting God’s truth, the consequences of embracing darkness, and the call to return to the Light found in Jesus Christ.

The Danger of Ignoring Conscience
"And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient." (Romans 1:28)
God has placed a conscience within every human being, a moral compass that directs us toward righteousness. However, in today's world, many people deliberately ignore their conscience to indulge in sinful desires. They pretend not to know the difference between right and wrong, thus becoming spiritually blind.
When a person continually resists the conviction of the Holy Spirit, their heart becomes hardened, and they fall deeper into deception. This is why we see an increase in moral decay, lawlessness, and spiritual confusion in society.

The Allure of Paganism and Spiritual Darkness
"Ye shall not go after other gods, of the gods of the people which are round about you." (Deuteronomy 6:14)
Throughout history, mankind has been tempted to return to pagan ways, believing that these practices bring power, enlightenment, or fulfillment. Today, many are drawn to occultism, idol worship, and demonic rituals, thinking they are discovering hidden knowledge. However, these things only lead to bondage and destruction.
Demonic forces use deception to lure people away from God, convincing them that sin is desirable. But in reality, choosing paganism over Christ leads to darkness, despair, and ultimately eternal separation from God.

The Consequences of Choosing Darkness
"But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them." (2 Corinthians 4:3-4)
When people reject God’s truth, they give themselves over to demonic influence. As a result, their lives spiral into confusion, addiction, lawlessness, and misery.
Examples of this can be seen in the rise of substance abuse, sexual perversion, violence, and spiritual emptiness in modern society. Those who persist in sin without repentance are heading toward eternal damnation. Their rejection of Christ’s light means they remain under the rule of Satan, the god of this world.

The Path to Redemption
"Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me." (John 14:6)
Despite the widespread rejection of God, there is still hope for those who turn back to Him. Jesus Christ is the only way to escape darkness and find redemption. No matter how deep one has fallen into sin, God’s mercy is still available.
Those who repent and accept Christ will be delivered from spiritual blindness and brought into the Kingdom of Light. The Holy Spirit transforms the hearts and minds of those who choose to follow Jesus.

Salvation Prayer
If you are ready to accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior, pray this prayer with sincerity:
"Heavenly Father, I come before You in the name of Jesus Christ. I acknowledge that I am a sinner and that I have walked in darkness. Today, I repent of my sins and ask for Your forgiveness. I believe that Jesus died for my sins and rose again to give me eternal life. I surrender my life to You and ask that You fill me with Your Holy Spirit. Lead me in Your truth and help me to walk in Your ways. Thank You for saving me and making me a new creation. In Jesus’ name, Amen."
