A CALL TO THE CHURCH IN THESE TIMES By Major Frank Materu

Introduction

No one can fully understand the solution for the Church apart from God, for the answer does not lie with man. It is only by serving God that His people can be guided and preserved during dark times. Jesus extends a powerful invitation:

"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest." (Matthew 11:28).

This promise offers hope, peace, and rest to all who humbly respond to His call. The Church is called to be a beacon of light and a wellspring of salvation to those searching for hope in a troubled world.

Christ's Call: Safety in the Lord

When God calls His people, His desire is to deliver them from sin and offer them eternal peace and life. However, if they reject this call, they bring sorrow and judgment upon themselves. Yet, there will always be a remnant — those who know God intimately and serve Him faithfully.

"For a long time, God has been waiting for a people who will truly know Him."

This call is for this generation and the ones to come — individuals emerging from destruction who will dedicate themselves to a life of holiness and faithfulness to God.

Holiness and the Challenge of False Teachings

God warns His people against false teachers who view godliness as a means for personal gain.

"People of corrupt minds, who have been robbed of the truth and think that godliness is a means to financial gain." (1 Timothy 6:5).

Such misleading doctrines, often instilling fear and guilt to force giving, contradict the spirit of God's Word.

In Matthew 14:18-19, during the feeding of the multitude, Jesus took the little that was available, blessed it, and God multiplied it abundantly. This example teaches us that blessings come through God's grace, not coercion.

The Remnant of God: A People of Faith and Obedience

In an age of rebellion, God promises to raise a remnant who remain faithful to Him:

"So too, at the present time, there is a remnant chosen by grace." (Romans 11:5).

These are the spiritual people who obey God and live according to His righteousness, setting themselves apart from the ways of the world. Psalm 23:4 assures us of God’s protection even in the darkest valleys:

"Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me."

This remnant will stand as a sign and wonder in this generation, demonstrating God's truth and power.

Conclusion:

Join God’s Remnant

God calls those with broken hearts, those longing to draw near to Him. In Mark 8:36, Jesus poses a profound question:

"What good is it for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul?"

This is a call to return to the living God and reject the rebellion of the world. God is raising a remnant who will serve Him with sincerity and devotion. Join this remnant and be part of God’s great work in this generation and beyond.

Your Invitation

Do not miss this opportunity to be part of God’s remnant. Commit your life to Him, embrace His calling with gratitude, and trust Him in all things. God is the source of true life, and through Him, the Church will prevail even in the darkest times.

By the grace of God, I hope you will take this step of faith today.
