THE LORD WILL INCREASE US  By Major.  Frank Materu

Key Scripture:

"The LORD will make you increase, both you and your children. May you be blessed by the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth."

(Psalm 115:1415, NIV)

 Introduction

God is a God of increase. Throughout Scripture, we see His desire to expand, multiply, and elevate His people in His perfect timing and according to His will.

However, His increase is not random or haphazard; it requires obedience, faith, and submission to His plans.

In a world often obsessed with self promotion, we are reminded that true increase comes from the Lord. He knows what we need, when we need it, and how best to fulfill His purposes through us.

This article explores how God’s increase works, the role of obedience, and the importance of trusting Him with the people and resources He chooses to bring into our lives.

 1. The Source of Increase: Trusting God’s Timing

Key Scripture:

"For it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose."

(Philippians 2:13, NIV)

God is the source of all increase. It is He who multiplies, connects, and strengthens His people. Our role is to remain obedient and trust in His perfect timing.

When we try to force outcomes or rely on our own understanding, we risk missing out on God’s best.

Let us not focus on what we think we need, but on what God has determined is essential for His purposes.

His additions may surprise us, but they are always good and purposeful. Rejoice, for what He brings will glorify Him and sustain us in our journey.

 2. Preparing for Increase: Seeking God’s Counsel

Key Scripture:

"Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight."

(Proverbs 3:56, NIV)

Before inviting anyone or anything into God’s work, it is crucial to seek His counsel. This is God’s domain, not ours. We must not act recklessly or follow human assumptions, but instead, inquire of the Lord.

Inviting the wrong influences into God’s work can bring confusion and disruption. But when we diligently seek His guidance, He will bring the right people at the right time. Remember, God knows our needs better than we do.

 3. The Power of Brokenness: God’s Transforming Grace

Key Scripture:

"My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness."

(2 Corinthians 12:9, NIV)

God often works through brokenness. Before He multiplies, He breaks and refines. This principle applies to both individuals and communities.

As believers, we must allow God to work in us and through us, even when it requires breaking down our pride, selfreliance, or preconceived notions.

When God brings people into His work, they may not appear “perfect” by human standards. They may come with flaws, weaknesses, and challenges.

However, just as God transformed us through His grace, He will also transform them. Let us look at others not with judgment but with hope, trusting in God’s ability to restore and renew.

 4. Embracing God’s Additions: A Call to Unity

Key Scripture:

"Accept one another, then, just as Christ accepted you, in order to bring praise to God."

(Romans 15:7, NIV)

When God adds people to His body, He does so with a purpose. Our responsibility is to embrace them, not to criticize or reject them based on outward appearances.

Each person God brings is uniquely chosen and has a role to play in His plan.

Instead of focusing on their imperfections, let us trust in God’s ability to use and transform them for His glory.

Remember, none of us were perfect when God called us. It was His grace and power that made us new.

 5. Walking in God’s Plan: Surrendering to His Will

Key Scripture:

"Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path."

(Psalm 119:105, NIV)

As God leads us, we must follow His path with humility and faith. Let us not rush to conclusions or try to control the outcomes. Instead, trust in the process and rejoice in the fruit that God brings.

God’s plans are higher than ours. His ways are perfect, and His works are beyond human comprehension.

When we surrender to His will, we will see His hand at work, producing fruit that glorifies Him and blesses others.

 Conclusion

The Lord’s increase is a promise we can trust. He will multiply us, connect us, and strengthen us for His glory. However, we must be willing to seek His counsel, embrace His timing, and trust in His process.

As we walk in obedience, God will bring the right people, resources, and opportunities into our lives.

He will refine us through brokenness, transform us through grace, and use us to accomplish His purposes.

Let us remain faithful, rejoicing in the increase that comes from the Lord.

For in Him, we find our strength, our purpose, and our ultimate victory.

"The LORD will indeed give what is good, and our land will yield its harvest."

(Psalm 85:12, NIV)
