Embracing Obedience and Repentance: A Call to Return to God By: Major. Frank Materu

Key Verse:

“If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” 2 Chronicles 7:14

The Power of Humble Desire

The humble heart that desires God will be kept by Him and used as He sees fit.

God delights in using the weak and the foolish according to the world’s standards, to bring about His will.

He can take what seems insignificant in the eyes of the world and use it to accomplish mighty things.

Just as one man, Noah, stood for God and declared truth, the entire course of history was changed.

“For the foolishness of God is wiser than human wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than human strength.”

1 Corinthians 1:25

The Woe of Nations and Individuals Who Forget God

Woe to the nations that forget God.

This is a warning for all—whether a nation, a community, or an individual—that turns away from Him.

Such a people will only receive misery, suffering, affliction, and calamity as their just reward.

God offers mercy and grace, but those who reject Him will ultimately face His judgment.

The Urgency of Repentance in a Corrupt Generation

In a corrupt and vile generation, repentance is urgent.

Every day, we must humble ourselves before God, confess our sins, and surrender our hearts to Him.

Sin, in any form, must not be held onto, but rather, we must embrace the life that repentance offers.

Living a repentant lifestyle means daily humbling ourselves before God, keeping our hearts clean so that we may walk in His will.

Standing Firm in the Midst of Mockery

Noah's example teaches us perseverance.

Had Noah given in to the mocking and ridicule of those around him, the world would have been lost.

He stood firm in obedience to God's command, and through him, God preserved a remnant.

Likewise, we are called to stand firm in our faith, regardless of the opposition or mockery we face.

God's Call to a Repentance Revolution

God is calling for a Repentance Revolution, and we must heed this call.

When we respond in obedience, the air will be cleared, and people will be able to hear God's voice.

Repentance opens the way for spiritual renewal and makes us ready to receive God's mercy and guidance.

Personal Accountability Before God

When we stand before God, we will not be able to blame others for our failures.

We must take personal responsibility for our actions and our disobedience.

Just as a dog can be trained to obey, so too can God’s people learn to walk in obedience to Him.

“No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it.” Hebrews 12:11

Conclusion: Walking in Obedience and Repentance

God is calling each of us to humble ourselves, repent, and live in obedience to His will.

In doing so, we will find His mercy, His light, and His grace.

It is time for a Repentance Revolution—a return to the ways of God, a turning from sin, and a commitment to live according to His truth.

Let us rise up in obedience, knowing that God delights in those who turn their hearts back to Him.
