Introduction
In every generation, God calls His people to rise, to move, and to actively participate in His divine purposes. The call to “get up and get moving” is not merely about physical activity, but about spiritual awakening, alignment, and obedience. It is a call to abandon passivity, complacency, and self-governance, and instead to live under the constant direction of the Holy Spirit.
This lesson addresses one of the greatest struggles within the life of a believer: the conflict between the carnal mind and the mind governed by the Holy Spirit. While God, in His mercy, has provided everything necessary for victorious living—including the Baptism of the Holy Spirit—many still choose to rely on their own understanding. This reliance leads to spiritual drift, compromise, and ultimately destruction if not corrected.
We are living in times where discouragement, weariness, and even despair have overtaken many. Some have lost their zeal for life and purpose, while others have become deeply entangled in worldly systems and sinful behaviors. Yet God’s desire remains unchanged: that His people live in obedience, clarity, strength, and spiritual authority.
This teaching explores the necessity of being governed by the Holy Spirit, the dangers of carnality, the tragedy of spiritual complacency, and the consequences of persistent disobedience. At the same time, it reveals the hope, restoration, and power available to those who choose to align themselves with God’s Spirit.

The Urgency of Responding to God’s Call
“Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light.” — Ephesians 5:14
________________________________________
God’s call to arise is urgent and intentional. It is not a suggestion but a command directed to those who have become spiritually inactive or distracted. There are assignments, purposes, and divine works that remain unfulfilled because many have chosen delay over obedience.
To “get up and get moving” means to awaken from spiritual lethargy and step into active participation in God’s will. It involves intentional pursuit of God, readiness to obey, and willingness to act when directed by the Holy Spirit.
Spiritual inactivity is dangerous because it creates room for distraction, deception, and decline. Those who do not move forward in obedience often drift backward into compromise. Therefore, responding promptly to God’s call is essential for maintaining spiritual vitality and effectiveness.

The Conflict Between the Carnal Mind and the Holy Spirit
“Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.” — Romans 8:7
________________________________________
At the core of spiritual struggle lies the conflict between two opposing forces: the carnal mind and the Holy Spirit. The carnal mind operates based on human reasoning, desires, and self-interest, while the Holy Spirit leads according to divine truth and eternal purpose.
God has made provision for believers to be governed by the Holy Spirit through the Baptism of the Holy Spirit. However, this requires intentional submission. The presence of the Spirit does not automatically override human will; it must be yielded to daily.
Those who rely on their carnal minds inevitably drift away from God’s will. The carnal mind resists divine authority and seeks independence, leading to disobedience and spiritual instability. In contrast, the Holy Spirit provides clarity, direction, and strength for righteous living.

The Call to Spiritual Alertness and Aggressive Faith
“Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour.” — 1 Peter 5:8
________________________________________
Believers are called to remain spiritually alert and active. This includes being aggressive—not in a physical sense, but in spiritual engagement, truth declaration, and obedience.
Spiritual passivity makes individuals vulnerable to deception and attack. The enemy seeks to exploit moments of weakness, distraction, and complacency. Therefore, vigilance is essential.
Aggressive faith involves actively pursuing God, declaring truth boldly, and resisting anything that opposes His will. It requires discipline, focus, and a commitment to remain aligned with the Holy Spirit at all times.

Overcoming Despair and Embracing Divine Purpose
“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.” — Jeremiah 29:11
________________________________________
In times of difficulty, some believers fall into despair, losing sight of their purpose and even desiring to escape life itself. However, such thinking is contrary to God’s intention.
God has equipped His people with everything needed for life and godliness. The presence of despair often indicates a disconnection from His truth and Spirit. When individuals refocus on God and submit to His guidance, they rediscover purpose and strength.
Life is not meant to be endured passively but lived actively in alignment with God’s will. Embracing divine purpose brings renewed energy, clarity, and hope.

The Danger of Worldliness and Spiritual Neglect
“Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world.” — 1 John 2:15
________________________________________
One of the greatest hindrances to spiritual growth is worldliness. Many prioritize daily routines, work, and personal interests while neglecting their relationship with God. This imbalance leads to spiritual weakness and vulnerability.
When individuals consistently choose worldly activities over spiritual disciplines such as prayer and seeking God, they gradually drift away from His presence. Their priorities reveal their allegiance.
God desires intentional fellowship with His people. Time spent in prayer, worship, and seeking His will is not optional—it is essential for maintaining spiritual strength and direction.

The Destructive Power of Sin and Habitual Disobedience
“Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey?” — Romans 6:16
________________________________________
Sin is not merely an action; it is a force that enslaves those who yield to it. When individuals repeatedly choose sinful behaviors, they become bound by those choices. What begins as indulgence becomes addiction, and what seems harmless leads to destruction.
Habitual disobedience dulls spiritual sensitivity and hardens the heart. Individuals may attempt to repent superficially, but without genuine transformation, they return to the same patterns.
True repentance involves a complete turning away from sin and a commitment to walk in righteousness. Without this, the cycle of bondage continues, leading to deeper spiritual decline.

The Tragedy of Self-Destruction Through Deception
“There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.” — Proverbs 14:12
________________________________________
Many who fall into destruction do so because they believe lies rather than truth. The enemy uses deception to lead individuals away from safety and into harmful paths.
Pride plays a significant role in this process. When individuals trust their own understanding above God’s Word, they become vulnerable to deception. They justify their actions and ignore warnings, ultimately leading to self-destruction.
This tragedy is avoidable. Those who remain humble, teachable, and submitted to God can discern truth and avoid the pitfalls of deception.

The Power of Abiding in God
“Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine.” — John 15:4
________________________________________
The solution to spiritual struggle is not human effort but abiding in God. This involves maintaining a continuous relationship with Him, characterized by dependence, obedience, and trust.
Abiding in God produces spiritual fruit, strength, and stability. It enables believers to overcome temptation, resist deception, and fulfill their calling.
Those who remain connected to God experience His presence, guidance, and power in every aspect of their lives. This is the life God intends for His people.

Summary
This lesson has emphasized the urgency of responding to God’s call, the necessity of being governed by the Holy Spirit, and the dangers of relying on the carnal mind. It has highlighted the importance of spiritual alertness, the need to overcome despair, and the risks associated with worldliness and sin.
We have seen that disobedience leads to bondage and destruction, while obedience brings life, purpose, and fulfillment. The choice between these paths is both immediate and eternal in its consequences.
