Who Judges God? By Major Frank Materu
Key Scripture:
Isaiah 45:9 - "Woe to him who strives with his Maker, an earthen vessel with the potsherds of the earth! Shall the clay say to him who forms it, 'What are you making?' Or shall your handiwork say, 'He has no hands'?"

Introduction
The sovereignty of God is one of the most profound truths in the Christian faith. We must recognize that God, as the Creator of all things, holds absolute authority over all creation, including human beings. In His perfect justice, God judges rightly, and His judgment is always just. However, throughout history, humanity has often questioned God's right to judge, even when His wrath is clearly evident against sin. This message delves into the importance of accepting God's judgment, recognizing His mercy in bringing it forth, and understanding why we, as His creation, must never presume to judge the Creator.

The Right to Judge Is God's Alone
Psalm 75:7 - "But God is the Judge: He puts down one, and exalts another."
God's judgment is His alone to execute, and He does so with perfect wisdom. He is the author and the finisher, the beginning and the end. When men and women try to question or defy God's judgment, they are placing themselves in a position that only God should occupy. His judgments are righteous and founded on His perfect understanding of the wickedness of men. It is not for us to question why He brings wrath, fury, or indignation upon any individual, city, or nation. When we attempt to do so, we show a lack of understanding of His holiness and righteousness.

False Compassion Towards the Wicked
Proverbs 17:15 - "He who justifies the wicked, and he who condemns the just, both of them alike are an abomination to the Lord."
There is a danger in sympathizing with the wicked to the extent that we begin to align with their evil actions. In this present age, many believe they are showing compassion by tolerating the sinful behavior of others, but such false compassion leads to the approval of wickedness. God never called His people to align themselves with those who oppose His righteousness. When we stand with the wicked in their sin, we are standing against God, and we will share in the same judgment that they face.

The Danger of Pride and Self-Righteousness
Romans 2:3 - "And do you think this, O man, you who judge those practicing such things, and doing the same, that you will escape the judgment of God?"
Pride and self-righteousness can lead us to think that we know better than God. When we presume to understand more than God and judge His actions, we are guilty of arrogance and folly. The same pride that brought the downfall of Lucifer will lead many astray. It is not for us to decide when or how God's judgment should be executed. We are to accept His will, trusting that His judgments are just and that His wrath is a necessary part of His justice.

God's Mercy in Judgment
Revelation 3:19 - "As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent."
God's judgment is not solely about punishment; it is also an opportunity for repentance. The purpose of God's wrath is not destruction but restoration. When God brings His judgments upon the wicked, it is to bring them to repentance before it is too late. His mercy is evident in the very fact that He allows us the chance to turn from our sin and find forgiveness. However, if we refuse to accept His correction and continue to live in rebellion, we make ourselves liable to His eternal judgment.

Do Not Judge God’s Judgment
Job 40:8 - "Would you indeed annul My judgment? Would you condemn Me that you may be justified?"
Humanity often struggles to comprehend why God allows certain things to happen, especially when His judgment is painful and difficult to understand. But we must remember that God's ways are higher than our ways, and His thoughts are higher than our thoughts. We cannot presume to understand the full extent of His wisdom and mercy. When we judge God's judgment, we are placing ourselves above Him, a position that no human being is capable of occupying.

Summary
God, in His infinite wisdom, holds the right to judge. His judgment is righteous, and His wrath is not arbitrary—it is a necessary part of His justice. While the world may question God's actions or seek to align with the wicked, we must remain steadfast in our trust that God knows best. False compassion and misplaced judgment only lead us into pride and rebellion against the Creator. It is essential that we accept God's judgments, knowing that they come from a heart of love and mercy, providing an opportunity for repentance and restoration.
