THE CALL By: Major. Frank Materu
Key Scripture: John 14:6
"Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.'" (John 14:6)
Introduction:
Life’s greatest question is about direction and purpose.
People often seek paths that seem right in their eyes, yet only one way leads to eternal life—the way of Christ.
Jesus, in His profound declaration, reveals Himself as the sole path to the Father.
This truth demands total surrender and trust in Him, not human reasoning or worldly systems.
The Christian walk is akin to that of a disciplined soldier under the command of a mighty leader.
Just as a soldier must trust and obey their commander without question, believers must submit to the authority of Christ, allowing Him to guide their steps for His divine purposes.
Let us reflect on the significance of obeying God's call and following His way, regardless of where it leads.
The Way of the Lord:
Human wisdom leads to death, but the Lord, the Living God, leads to life. He is the life.
"There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death." (Proverbs 14:12)
The ways of the Lord are perfect.
When a person forsakes all and follows Him, does it matter where they are stationed?
Just as soldiers follow their commander’s orders without question, a believer must trust the Commander’s plan.
Does a soldier dictate to the commander where they should be stationed or where to fight? Certainly not.
A soldier who does so is disobedient, relying on their own understanding and filled with pride.
A good soldier, however, says,
"Yes, Commander, I will obey," and takes their post willingly.
"Share in suffering as a good soldier of Christ Jesus." (2 Timothy 2:3)
You have been redeemed for God’s purposes. You have enlisted in His spiritual army and surrendered yourself to Him.
You are His possession, and you must not seek to command Him but rather submit fully, knowing that He is your Commander.
Who are we to question His purposes or plans?
Growth Through Trust and Obedience:
Many do not grow in the Lord because they do not trust Him.
They lean on human systems, rely on what they can see, and seek security in earthly things.
As a result, they fail to walk with Him, and they stagnate spiritually.
The Living God desires sons and daughters who will walk with Him, who will fellowship with Him, and who will embrace His ways.
He seeks those who place their hope in Him, not in worldly traditions or their own efforts.
Obedience to God often goes against human logic.
His Spirit leads to life, not death, while human understanding is clouded.
When the Lord speaks and says, “Do this,” obey Him without hesitation.
The enemy has many traps and schemes designed to derail God’s people.
He aims to distract them with disobedience and reliance on their own intellect.
In doing so, the enemy cuts them off from the source of life, leaving them vulnerable.
Do not listen to the voice of the enemy or your own reasoning.
Instead, follow Jesus, for He is the way, the truth, and the life.
"Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, to which you were also called and have confessed the good confession in the presence of many witnesses." (1 Timothy 6:12)
A Call to Holiness:
God is holy and has declared war against the forces that seek to destroy His holy people.
He is raising up a generation that will stand boldly in holiness and proclaim His Word fearlessly.
"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing." (2 Timothy 4:7-8)
This holy battle has begun.
Today, people will repent with tears for their sins and wickedness.
They will beat their chests in remorse and fall to their knees, mourning before the Lord.
God is weary of empty religious performances.
He will no longer tolerate people who rely on rituals and entertainment.
Instead, He is calling forth those who will walk in His Spirit, obey Him, and long for His presence.
"You also, as living stones, are being built up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ." (1 Peter 2:5)
Living Stones for His Glory:
God is issuing His call throughout the world, and those who hear and respond will become His spiritual people.
Those who forsake everything to follow Him will be used mightily.
There will be no limit to what He will do through them.
He will multiply them like bread, breaking and distributing them again and again to fulfill His purposes.
They will be living stones in His house, shining brightly for His glory.
Conclusion:
The call of God is clear: to trust, obey, and follow Him wholeheartedly.
This is not a walk of convenience but of faith and surrender.
As living stones, we are built into a spiritual house to glorify Him and fulfill His purposes.
Respond to the call, stand firm in faith, and allow Him to lead you to His perfect will.
