ASK FOR HIS HOLY FIRE By Major Frank Materu

Key Scripture: Matthew 3:11

"I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire."

Introduction

The fire of God is a purifying, sanctifying, and empowering force. It consumes sin, strengthens righteousness, and enables believers to walk in holiness and power. In Scripture, fire represents God's presence, His judgment, and His refining work. As believers, we must seek this holy fire, that it may burn within us, consuming all iniquity and filling us with divine zeal. This teaching explores the necessity of seeking God's fire, standing boldly for truth, bearing one another’s burdens, resisting sin, and walking in holiness.

ASK FOR HIS HOLY FIRE

"And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them." – Acts 2:3

God desires to ignite His people with the fire of His Spirit. This fire purifies, sanctifies, and consumes every form of unrighteousness. It is through this fire that believers are empowered to live holy lives and fulfill their divine purpose. Ask God to fill you with His fire so that you may walk in His power and authority.

BE VALIANT FOR THE TRUTH

"Buy the truth, and sell it not; also wisdom, and instruction, and understanding." – Proverbs 23:23

The world is filled with deception and darkness, but God calls His people to stand boldly for the truth. Do not be intimidated by the enemy or discouraged by opposition. When you stand for truth, God stands with you. Those who endure in faithfulness will receive the crown of life.

BEAR ONE ANOTHER’S BURDENS

"Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ." – Galatians 6:2

God commands us to love and support one another. We must not be like the priest and the Levite who passed by the wounded man, but rather, like the Good Samaritan who showed mercy. As Christ bears our burdens, so must we care for one another.

THE DANGER OF FANTASY

"Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ." – 2 Corinthians 10:5

Fantasy can be a spiritual trap, drawing people into deception and away from the truth. Many lose themselves in false ideologies and doctrines, forsaking the reality of God’s Word. We must guard our minds and walk in sober discernment.

SIN AS YOUR ENEMY

"For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." – Romans 6:23

Sin is not a friend but an enemy that leads to destruction. It must not be entertained, embraced, or tolerated. Just as a snake's bite brings poison, sin brings spiritual death. Flee from sin and pursue righteousness.

GOD CALLS HIS PEOPLE TO HOLINESS

"Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord." – Hebrews 12:14

God calls His people to return to Him in holiness. Holiness is not an option but a command. Without holiness, no one can see God. We must live consecrated lives, separated from the ways of the world and dedicated to Him.

THE POWER OF ANOINTING

"And it shall come to pass in that day, that his burden shall be taken away from off thy shoulder, and his yoke from off thy neck, and the yoke shall be destroyed because of the anointing." – Isaiah 10:27

The anointing of God breaks every yoke of bondage. Seek His anointing daily so that you may walk in spiritual freedom and be a vessel for His glory.

THE ROD OF CORRECTION

"For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth." – Hebrews 12:6

God disciplines those He loves. When we stray, He corrects us to bring us back to Him. Embrace His correction with joy, knowing that it refines and strengthens your faith.

THE BLESSING OF NEED

"Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven." – Matthew 5:3

When people lack nothing, they tend to forget God. But when they are in need, they seek Him earnestly. Embrace seasons of need as opportunities to draw closer to God and rely on His provision.

LABORING FOR THE KINGDOM

"Except the Lord build the house, they labour in vain that build it." – Psalm 127:1

Human efforts are in vain unless they are aligned with God’s will. Labor not for personal gain, but for the glory of God and the expansion of His Kingdom.

Salvation Prayer

If you have never given your life to Christ, now is the time. Say this prayer:

"Lord Jesus, I acknowledge that I am a sinner. I repent of my sins and ask for Your forgiveness. I believe that You died for me and rose again. I accept You as my Lord and Savior. Fill me with Your Holy Spirit and guide me in Your truth. In Jesus’ name, Amen."
