The Call to Stand with God By Major Frank Materu

Key Scripture:

"I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." (John 14:6)

Introduction

In every generation, God calls His people to walk in truth and obedience, forsaking all forms of idolatry and rebellion. However, many choose to trust in worldly systems, their own understanding, or the comforts of false teachings rather than in the living God. This deviation leads to spiritual decay, and only repentance and a return to God’s righteous path can restore our relationship with Him

The times we live in are marked by unrest, upheaval, and moral decay. These are not random occurrences but a deliberate act of God to shake humanity out of complacency. Through the trials of this era, God is calling His people to a deeper relationship with Him—a relationship grounded in truth, humility, and repentance.

The Danger of False Trust

*"Do not put your trust in princes, in human beings, who cannot save." (Psalm 146:3)

Throughout history, people have misplaced their trust in governments, leaders, and material wealth. These vanities cannot save, yet they create an illusion of safety. God is eradicating this middle ground—forcing a choice between truth and rebellion.

When we straddle the fence, trying to live both for God and for the world, we deceive ourselves and invite destruction. God demands complete allegiance, and partial obedience is disobedience in His eyes.

False Compassion and the Betrayal of Truth

"Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness." (Isaiah 5:20)

A significant deception in our generation is the misuse of compassion to align with sin. Many believers sympathize with the wicked and justify their rebellion under the guise of love and tolerance. This false compassion grieves God, as it replaces His righteous standard with humanistic ideologies.

True love speaks truth, calling sinners to repentance and a renewed life in Christ. To compromise with evil is to betray God and align with darkness.

The Decay of Religious Systems

"These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me." (Matthew 15:8)

Religion, without true devotion, has become a rotted, filthy mass in the eyes of God. Many who claim to be His people indulge in self-centeredness, pride, and idolatry while performing outward displays of worship. God is not deceived by these empty rituals.

The church must return to the foundation of repentance, humility, and obedience. Without these, even the most elaborate religious practices are meaningless.

Idolatry in Modern Times

"You shall have no other gods before me." (Exodus 20:3)

Modern idolatry often disguises itself in subtle forms—success, wealth, self-love, and even religious achievements. These idols divert our devotion from God and replace Him with temporary pleasures or personal pride.

God’s wrath is against those who persist in serving idols while claiming His name. Such hypocrisy is detestable and brings judgment upon individuals and nations alike.

The Call to Repentance

"Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord." (Acts 3:19)

God’s message is clear: repentance is not optional. It is a continual process of dying to self and aligning our hearts with His will. Those who embrace repentance find life, peace, and the joy of walking in His ways.

The "Repentance Revolution" is a call to abandon sin, forsake idols, and pursue a life wholly devoted to God. It is a daily choice to reject carnality and live in the righteousness of Christ.

The Privilege of Serving God

"But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well." (Matthew 6:33)

Serving God is not a burden but a privilege. In Him, we find strength, guidance, and eternal hope. When we keep our vision fixed on Him, we rise above the chaos and experience the blessings of His presence.

Let us not be like those who dishonor God with their disobedience. Instead, let us be found faithful, standing firm in truth and walking in His righteousness.

Summary

The world is in turmoil, and many have turned away from God, placing their trust in idols and false securities. However, God is calling His people to a "Repentance Revolution"—a return to truth, humility, and obedience. This requires rejecting false compassion, tearing down idols, and aligning fully with His will.

Conclusion

God is separating the faithful from the unfaithful. There is no middle ground. As believers, we must choose to walk in truth and repentance, forsaking all that displeases Him. This is not merely a call to avoid judgment but an invitation to experience the fullness of His love, grace, and blessings.

Let us heed His call, keeping our vision single and our hearts devoted to Him alone. In doing so, we glorify God and secure our place in His eternal kingdom.

"Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled." (Matthew 5:6)
