THE HARLOT CHURCH By Major. Frank Materu
Introduction:
In these last days, God is calling His people to a REVOLUTION OF REPENTANCE.
This call, as declared in Revelation 18:1-5, reveals the downfall of Babylon the Great, a symbolic representation of corruption, idolatry, and spiritual unfaithfulness.
Those who heed this call will find favor with the living God, but those who reject it, blinded by pride and rebellion, will face His judgment.
The Harlot Church represents a fallen system that has forsaken God’s truth, turning instead to self-glorification, worldliness, and unrepentant sin.
This message urges all who have ears to hear to return to God in humility, repentance, and complete surrender.
Key Scripture:
"After this I saw another angel coming down from heaven. He had great authority, and the earth was illuminated by his splendor. With a mighty voice he shouted:
‘Fallen! Fallen is Babylon the Great!’
She has become a dwelling for demons and a haunt for every impure spirit, a haunt for every unclean bird, a haunt for every unclean and detestable animal.
For all the nations have drunk the maddening wine of her adulteries. The kings of the earth committed adultery with her, and the merchants of the earth grew rich from her excessive luxuries.
Then I heard another voice from heaven say: ‘Come out of her, my people, so that you will not share in her sins, so that you will not receive any of her plagues; for her sins are piled up to heaven, and God has remembered her crimes.’" – Revelation 18:1-5
The Call to Genuine Repentance:
Repentance is more than a mere outward show; it is a transformation of life, character, and commitment.
The living God does not accept prideful, unrepentant hearts but welcomes those who come to Him in humility and truth.
Scripture Reference:
"Unless you repent, you too will all perish."– Luke 13:3
The Harlot Church deceives by promoting external religion over internal transformation.
Many within its ranks are focused on appearances rather than true change.
God desires more than religious rituals; He demands a life that reflects genuine repentance.
The Harlot Church: A System of Deception:
The Harlot Church is symbolic of spiritual infidelity and compromise with the world.
It is marked by pride, immorality, and a focus on materialism rather than the true gospel of Jesus Christ.
Key Attributes of the Harlot Church:
1. Pride and Rebellion:
"God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble." – James 4:6
The Harlot Church elevates itself above God, refusing correction and repentance.
2. Worldly Allure:
"You adulterous people, don’t you know that friendship with the world means enmity against God?" – James 4:4
It seeks worldly admiration, indulging in spiritual adultery.
3. Spiritual Compromise:
"Her leaders judge for a bribe, her priests teach for a price, and her prophets tell fortunes for money.
Yet they look for the Lord’s support and say, ‘Is not the Lord among us? No disaster will come upon us.’"
– Micah 3:11
The Harlot Church mixes truth with falsehood, leading many astray.
The Consequences of Spiritual Adultery:
When believers align themselves with the Harlot Church, they partake in its sins and ultimately its judgment.
Spiritual adultery leads to:
- Separation from God
- Loss of spiritual power
- Participation in eternal judgment
Scripture Reference:
"They say, ‘If a man divorces his wife and she leaves him and marries another man, should he return to her again? Would not the land be completely defiled? But you have lived as a prostitute with many lovers—would you now return to me?’ declares the Lord." – Jeremiah 3:1
The Call to Come Out of Babylon:
God’s command is clear: “Come out of her, my people.”
True believers must separate themselves from systems and practices that dishonor God.
This is a call to holiness, obedience, and unwavering faith in the true gospel.
Scripture Reference:
"Therefore, come out from them and be separate, says the Lord. Touch no unclean thing, and I will receive you."
– 2 Corinthians 6:17
The Path to Restoration:
Restoration begins with acknowledging one’s sins and turning wholeheartedly to God.
True repentance brings healing, renewal, and reconciliation with God.
Key Actions for Restoration:
1. Confession of Sin:
"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness." – 1 John 1:9
2. Pursuit of Holiness:
"Make every effort to live in peace with everyone and to be holy; without holiness, no one will see the Lord." – Hebrews 12:14
3. Commitment to God’s Word:
"Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path." – Psalm 119:105
Conclusion:
The Harlot Church symbolizes spiritual infidelity, compromise, and rebellion against God.
But there is hope for those who respond to God’s call for repentance.
By leaving the deception of Babylon and turning fully to God, believers can walk in His light, live in His truth, and experience His salvation.
God’s call is urgent:
Come out of her, my people.” Will you heed the call and turn to the living God in repentance and faith?
Key Scripture for Reflection:
"There is a way that appears to be right, but in the end, it leads to death."
– Proverbs 14:12
