SO-CALLED \"GREAT LEADERS\" ARE NOTHING BUT COWARDS By Major Frank Materu
Key Scripture:
"For the leaders of this people cause them to err, and they that are led of them are destroyed." (Isaiah 9:16, KJV)

Introduction
In this wicked and perverse generation, many individuals who claim the mantle of leadership have forsaken the courage and conviction required to stand for truth. Rather than leading the people into righteousness, they are bowing to the approval of men and the fleeting rewards of the world. This message challenges us to examine the hypocrisy, cowardice, and spiritual failure of so-called "great leaders" who have abandoned God’s standards for the sake of self-interest and popularity.

The Cowardice of False Leaders
Many who occupy positions of leadership within the body of Christ and beyond have proven themselves to be cowards. Instead of entering the spiritual battle to confront the forces of evil, they skirt around issues and pretend all is well. These leaders are driven by a love for the world rather than a love for God.
"For do I now persuade men, or God? Or do I seek to please men? For if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ." (Galatians 1:10, KJV)
Their compromise with lies and their lust for power reveal their true character. They are hypocrites and mockers who pursue fame and acceptance rather than standing for righteousness, even at personal cost.

God’s Displeasure with Hypocrisy
God is not deceived by half-hearted sacrifices or religious pretense. Those who prioritize their own pride and desires over obedience to God have become a shame and disgrace before Him. The wrath of God is being revealed against a generation filled with hypocrisy and idolatry.
"They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate." (Titus 1:16, KJV)
Such leaders have failed to guide the people in repentance, preferring to embrace the ways of the heathen. They reject the light and truth of God, choosing instead to bow to idols of their making.

The Judgment of a Wicked Generation
This is a time of divine judgment, as God’s wrath is poured out upon a rebellious generation. Natural disasters, plagues, and the collapse of human systems serve as evidence of God’s anger against sin. Nations will be humbled, and the pride of the wicked will be brought low.
"For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness." (Romans 1:18, KJV)
The proud, the hypocritical, and the idol worshipers will find themselves under the weight of God’s righteous indignation.

True Repentance and Submission to God
God seeks those who will see the error of their ways, repent, and turn wholeheartedly to Him. Superficial religious displays and false mourning are meaningless to God if they are not accompanied by genuine repentance and obedience.
"If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land." (2 Chronicles 7:14, KJV)
Those who humble themselves before God and seek to live righteously will find refuge and mercy in Him.

Summary
This message is a sobering reminder that God will not tolerate hypocrisy, pride, or idolatry among His people. Leaders who fail to stand for truth will face judgment, as will those who follow them in their disobedience. God is calling for genuine repentance, submission, and faithfulness in this hour.

Conclusion
As we reflect on the state of leadership and the condition of this generation, let us commit ourselves to align with God’s truth. It is only through wholehearted devotion and obedience that we can escape the wrath of God and experience His favor.
"The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy." (Psalm 103:8, KJV)
