Rejecting God\'s Authority: The Danger of Pride and False Allegiances By: Major. Frank Materu

Key Verse:

"Obey your leaders and submit to their authority. They keep watch over you as men who must give an account." -

Hebrews 13:17

Disrespecting God’s Appointed Leaders

To hold contempt for the elders and leaders whom God has placed over us is to reject Him.

When we refuse correction out of pride, believing ourselves too wise to heed counsel, we despise God's hand of mercy that seeks to guide and protect us from wrath.

This prideful rebellion is a grave error, especially in a time when many have turned their hearts away from His lordship.

Spiritual Unfaithfulness: The Adulterous Heart

In this generation, many who profess to be God’s people have rejected His lordship, choosing instead the ways of the world.

They claim to love and serve Jesus, but their actions betray a different reality.

They have become as an adulterous spouse, using God’s name in vain while refusing His mastery over their lives.

Following False Shepherds: The Trap of Cunning Men

There are many today who, while claiming to serve God, have surrendered themselves to cunning and deceitful men who lead them astray with sweet words and clever lies.

Easily enticed, they are led away from truth and righteousness. Like "silly geese," they follow these deceptive paths to spiritual ruin, putting their souls in grave danger.

“For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear.” 2 Timothy 4:3

Greed and the Pursuit of Wealth: Ministers in Darkness

It is distressing to see ministers who claim to be God’s representatives yet are ensnared by greed and a desire for worldly riches.

They pursue wealth at the cost of their souls and teach others to lust for the same deceitful gain.

Such ministers, though outwardly preaching light, are on a path of darkness and despair, leading others away from the truth.

Idolatry: The Folly of Serving Created Things

How tragic it is when people turn from the Creator, who made them in His image, to worship sticks, stones, and bones, calling these things their "gods."

God is kindled in righteous anger against this idolatry, for it dishonors His divine image within us.

This generational sin of idol worship brings curses upon families, spreading darkness across generations.

“They have forsaken me, the spring of living water, and have dug their own cisterns, broken cisterns that cannot hold water.” Jeremiah 2:13

Conclusion: Turning Back to True Worship

God calls us to reject pride, idolatry, and the deceit of greedy and false leaders.

We must return to a place of humility and faithfulness, honoring the leadership He has ordained, and avoiding the snares of false teachers and idols.

True worship is rooted in obedience, purity, and a heart set on God alone.

Let us return to Him, embracing the path of righteousness and rejecting every form of spiritual deception.
