THE ARMY OF LIARS, LOAFERS, AND LOSERS: A CALL TO REPENTANCE AND RESTORATION By: Major Frank Materu

Key Scripture: Proverbs 13:4 - "The soul of the sluggard craves and gets nothing, while the soul of the diligent is richly supplied."

Introduction

We are living in times of great moral and social decay, where the numbers of those who refuse to work, deceive others, and live as societal burdens continue to increase. These individuals, whom we can refer to as liars, loafers, and losers, have made it their lifestyle to reject diligence, discipline, and accountability. Some have fallen into this state due to their own rebellious choices, while others have been victims of corporate greed and corrupt leadership. Regardless of the cause, the world is increasingly filled with those who have chosen destitution over diligence and deception over truth.

The only way out of this cycle of despair and destruction is through repentance and faith in Jesus Christ. Many reject this solution, deceived into believing that Christ's call to righteousness is a form of oppression. However, the truth remains: "The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly" (John 10:10).

The Rise of Liars, Loafers, and Losers

The modern world is witnessing a sharp increase in the number of people who reject hard work, integrity, and responsibility. Many prefer to lie, deceive, and manipulate their way through life rather than put in honest labor. Others have chosen to live in squalor, rejecting any form of discipline and commitment.

Scripture warns us in 2 Thessalonians 3:10, "For even when we were with you, we would give you this command: If anyone is not willing to work, let him not eat." This principle underscores God’s expectation for every individual to be productive and contribute to society rather than live off others' labor.

Corporate Greed and the Destitution of the Poor

While some individuals end up in poverty due to their own choices, others are victims of an unjust economic system. Corporations driven by greed and heartless profit-making strategies often lay off workers indiscriminately, plunging families into sudden financial ruin.

Ecclesiastes 5:8 says, "If you see the oppression of the poor and the violent perversion of justice in a province, do not marvel at the matter; for high official watches over high official, and higher officials are over them." This scripture reveals the systemic corruption that perpetuates poverty and suffering.

The Harsh Reality of Destitution and Homelessness

Many who find themselves homeless and helpless have become bitter against society. They feel rejected and resort to crime, rebellion, and slothfulness rather than seeking transformation. Instead of turning to God, they form squatter communities that often breed more crime and disorder.

Isaiah 58:7 reminds us: "Is it not to share your bread with the hungry, and bring the homeless poor into your house; when you see the naked, to cover him, and not to hide yourself from your own flesh?" As believers, we must extend Christ’s love to those in need while also guiding them towards personal responsibility and faith in God.

The Deception of Demonic Influence

Many in the army of liars, loafers, and losers are under demonic deception, believing that their way of life is justified. This deception leads them deeper into sin, bitterness, and rebellion.

2 Corinthians 4:4 declares, "The god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, to keep them from seeing the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God." The only way to break free from this bondage is through the truth of the Gospel.

The Role of True Believers in This Crisis

Christians are called to be the light in a dark world. We must not conform to the corrupt patterns of society but rather demonstrate righteousness, diligence, and integrity in all that we do.

Colossians 3:23-24 says, "Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ."
