THE FOLLY OF DENYING GOD By: Major Frank Materu
Key Scripture: Psalm 14:1 - "The fool says in his heart, 'There is no God.' They are corrupt, their deeds are vile; there is no one who does good."
Introduction
Throughout history, there have always been those who, in their arrogance and self-importance, declare that there is no God. These individuals, blinded by their own pride, assume a position of superiority, believing that they have the intelligence and wisdom to rule over all things. However, Scripture makes it clear that those who deny the existence of God are not wise but are, in fact, fools. Their declarations stem from deception, and they fall deeper into sin as they reject the truth of God. The consequences of such rebellion are severe, leading to personal destruction, societal decay, and ultimately, eternal damnation. This teaching explores the foolishness of denying God, the deception behind such thinking, and the ultimate consequences of rebellion against the Creator.

The Pride and Arrogance of Fools
Proverbs 16:18 - "Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall."
One of the greatest reasons people reject God is pride. They believe they are intellectually superior and do not need to submit to divine authority. Such individuals elevate themselves to a position where they see themselves as self-sufficient, needing neither guidance nor accountability. In reality, their arrogance blinds them to the truth and leads them down a path of destruction. The Bible warns against pride, for it is often the first step toward rebellion against God.

The Deception of Demonic Influence
2 Corinthians 4:4 - "The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel that displays the glory of Christ, who is the image of God."
Many who deny God are not merely acting from their own understanding but are under the influence of demonic spirits. The devil works tirelessly to deceive people into believing lies. He fuels their arrogance, stirs up rebellion, and entices them with the illusion of self-sufficiency. Once a person has yielded to such deception, they become tools in the hands of demonic forces, spreading lies and leading others into darkness.

The Consequences of Rejecting God
Romans 1:21-22 - "For although they knew God, they neither glorified Him as God nor gave thanks to Him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools."
When a person denies God, they open themselves to destruction. The Bible teaches that those who reject God experience a downward spiral into corruption. Their minds become darkened, their actions become increasingly sinful, and their ultimate fate is separation from God. Societies that have turned away from God have also experienced moral decay, lawlessness, and eventual collapse.

The Reality of God's Judgment
Hebrews 10:31 - "It is a dreadful thing to fall into the hands of the living God."
God does not take rebellion lightly. While He is merciful and offers salvation, those who persist in denying Him will face His judgment. Throughout history, nations and individuals who have turned against God have suffered severe consequences. The judgment of God is both righteous and unavoidable for those who continue in their rebellion.

The denial of God is not a sign of intelligence but of foolishness. Those who reject Him are blinded by pride and demonic deception. Their rebellion leads to moral corruption, societal decay, and eventual destruction. The Bible clearly warns that such individuals will face the judgment of God unless they repent.

Conclusion
No one who denies God can truly prosper. The rejection of God leads to despair, destruction, and eternal separation from Him. However, there is hope for those who turn back to Him in repentance. God is merciful and desires for all to come to the knowledge of the truth. Those who humble themselves and acknowledge Him will find life, peace, and salvation.
