Left to Themselves By Major Frank Materu
Key Scripture: Proverbs 14:12 (KJV) — There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.
Introduction:
In this powerful and timely message, we delve into the consequences of humanity being left to their own devices. The world today is a clear reflection of what happens when people abandon the knowledge and fear of God. From chaos to confusion, from violence to perversion, the outcomes of rejecting God's path are evident. As we explore this topic, we will see how the absence of God in people's lives leads to despair and destruction, and why it is vital to remain in His ways.

Humanity Without God
John 15:5 — I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.
When people turn away from God, they lose their anchor and moral compass. The resulting confusion and madness in society are not coincidental but are the fruit of living without divine guidance. As seen throughout history, from ancient Israel to the present day, a nation that rejects God spirals into chaos.

The Consequences of Rebellion
Romans 1:28 — And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient.
The brutality, violence, and grotesque behaviors we witness are the result of people choosing wickedness over righteousness. Rebellion against God opens doors to demonic influence and leads to devastation. Those who harden their hearts toward God become trapped in a cycle of sin and despair.

The Idol of Self
2 Timothy 3:2-4 — For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, without natural affection... lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God.
When people prioritize self above God, they create an insatiable monster that is never satisfied. Self-worship blinds them to truth and drives them deeper into corruption. Political corruption, greed, and world crises are all symptoms of humanity’s obsession with self.

The Hopelessness of Sin
Ephesians 2:1 — And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins.
Sin brings spiritual death, leaving people hopeless and restless. Without God’s intervention, they remain imprisoned in their choices, unable to break free from the destructive patterns of their lives. This cycle of despair is not what God intended for humanity, but it is the inevitable result of turning away from Him.

The Path of Life
John 10:10 — The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.
God’s mercy provides a way out of the hopelessness of sin. Through Jesus Christ, we are offered the path of life—a straight and narrow way that leads to eternal joy and peace. In Him, we find purpose, direction, and freedom.

Prayer of Salvation:
Jesus, please help me! I know I’m a sinner, and I can’t save myself. But I believe that You died on the cross for me, for my sins. I believe You can give me a new life. I’m truly sorry for everything I’ve done wrong. Please forgive me!
Wash me clean with the blood You shed for me. Fill me with Your Holy Spirit and help me to follow You. I choose to turn away from every sin I know of, and I commit my life to You.
Please, Jesus, baptize me with the Holy Spirit, and let me speak in new spiritual tongues as a sign of Your power in my life. Thank You for saving me, for setting me free from sin, from the ways of the world, and from the enemy’s grip.
Thank You, Jesus! Amen.
