Standing Firm in Truth: A Call to Obedience and Intercession By: Major. Frank Materu
Key Verse:
“Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.” Matthew 5:10
Embracing Repentance and Intercession
When we commit to repentance and intercession for the unrepentant, we align ourselves with God’s heart.
We partake in His sorrow, feeling His pain for the lost.
Obedience to God’s desires, no matter how challenging, brings victory and strength.
In these times, God’s wrath against wickedness becomes evident, and those who seek truth will find it.
The Reality of a Truth-Rejecting Generation
In this generation, many reject, despise, and even try to destroy the truth.
Those who declare God’s truth are met with ridicule, scoffing, and mockery, yet they are called to stand firm.
By looking to God and drawing strength from Him, we can rise above the hatred and continue in blessedness, strength, and mercy.
“If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first.” John 15:18
Setting Our Face Like Flint
In moments of discouragement, when faced with opposition and mockery, it is vital to set our faces like flint.
This means pushing aside self-pity and steadfastly walking in the way God has set before us.
Our purpose is to declare His truth without wavering, knowing that this declaration is what brings people to salvation, and exposes those who reject it.
“Because the Sovereign LORD helps me, I will not be disgraced. Therefore have I set my face like flint, and I know I will not be put to shame.” Isaiah 50:7
Willingness to Endure Rejection for the Sake of Truth
Those who claim to be God’s people must be willing to endure rejection, ridicule, and suffering if they are to walk fully with Him.
Without this willingness, they forfeit the strength that comes from enduring trials for God’s sake.
To finish the course set before us, we must accept all that God requires and remain steadfast.
Declaring Truth Without Weariness
Do not grow weary in speaking the truth.
God has given us His truth to be shared, so that those who desire it can come to salvation, and those who reject it can face the conviction of their own hearts.
This is a solemn responsibility, yet a privilege that brings us into a deeper relationship with God.
“Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” Galatians 6:9
The Tragedy of Those Led Astray
Many have chosen to be led astray by false teachings and lies, loving the deception that keeps them from true repentance.
They refuse sound counsel, reject truth, and turn against God’s prophets.
This generation loves the falsehoods that ease their consciences but ultimately leads to their own destruction.
“For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear.” 2 Timothy 4:3
Conclusion: Perseverance in Truth and Obedience
As we navigate a world resistant to God’s truth, we are called to persevere in obedience and intercession.
Standing firm in God’s truth, even in the face of opposition, enables us to fulfill our calling.
Let us continue with courage, knowing that God strengthens us and that His reward is greater than any earthly praise or acceptance.
