THE DECAY OF DEFIANCE AND THE CALL TO REPENTANCE REVOLUTION By: Major Frank Materu
Key Scripture: Isaiah 5:20 - "Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter."

INTRODUCTION
Throughout history, societies have crumbled under the weight of their own defiance against God. From the days of Noah to the fall of great empires, the pattern remains the same—when people exalt themselves above the righteousness of God, destruction follows. In today's world, we are witnessing an era of blatant rebellion, where sin is not only practiced but celebrated. Leaders and influential figures openly defy God’s standards, taking pride in their wickedness, and encouraging the masses to follow in their destructive footsteps.
However, in the midst of this darkness, God is calling forth a people who will rise up in a Repentance Revolution—a movement of righteousness that stands in direct opposition to the forces of evil. This is a call for the righteous to resist the flood of sin, proclaim God’s truth, and lead others back to the path of holiness.

THE OPEN DEFIANCE OF GOD
Romans 1:28-32 - "Furthermore, just as they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, so God gave them over to a depraved mind, so that they do what ought not to be done..."
In every generation, there have been those who refuse to acknowledge God. They live as though they are invincible, rejecting the truth and embracing wickedness. Today’s society is filled with debauchery, pride, and self-exaltation. The media glorifies sin, leaders promote corruption, and the masses are deceived into thinking that life can be lived without consequences. This level of defiance is not new, but it is reaching alarming levels.
Despite their arrogance, the wicked are only fooling themselves. They live in a temporary illusion, believing they are untouchable. However, the Word of God makes it clear that those who choose to defy Him will face His wrath. Their perceived power is an illusion, and soon their rebellion will lead them to destruction.

GOD’S WRATH AGAINST THE REBELLIOUS
Nahum 1:2-3 - "The Lord is a jealous and avenging God; the Lord takes vengeance and is filled with wrath. The Lord takes vengeance on his foes and vents his wrath against his enemies. The Lord is slow to anger but great in power; the Lord will not leave the guilty unpunished."
The judgment of God is inevitable for those who persist in sin. Many think that because they do not see immediate punishment, they are safe. However, the patience of God should not be mistaken for permission. In due time, those who mock Him will face their downfall. The fall of the wicked is often sudden and irreversible.
History has shown that when societies become consumed by sin, they collapse. The same fate awaits those who reject God's standard. The day of reckoning is coming, and no one who has lived in defiance of God will escape His judgment.

THE CALL FOR A REPENTANCE REVOLUTION
2 Chronicles 7:14 - "If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land."
While destruction awaits the rebellious, hope remains for those who choose righteousness. God is calling His people to rise up and lead a movement of repentance. This is not a time to be silent or passive. The church must take a stand against sin and proclaim the truth boldly.
This revolution begins with individuals who commit to living holy lives. It is through their obedience and courage that others will be drawn to the light. The world must see the contrast between righteousness and wickedness, and it is the responsibility of God's people to make that distinction clear.

THE DANGERS OF COMPROMISE
James 4:4 - "You adulterous people, don't you know that friendship with the world means enmity against God? Therefore, anyone who chooses to be a friend of the world becomes an enemy of God."
Many believers today have fallen into the trap of compromise. They blend in with the world, afraid to take a stand for righteousness. However, the Bible warns that we cannot serve two masters. A lukewarm faith will not survive in these times.
Compromise leads to spiritual decay. Those who refuse to take a stand will eventually be swept away by the flood of iniquity. The only way to remain strong is to fully commit to God and separate from the ways of the world.
