THE DESTITUTION OF PROSTITUTION: REJECTION AND REBELLION AGAINST GOD By: Major Frank Materu
Key Scripture: Jeremiah 3:6-8 - "The Lord said also unto me in the days of Josiah the king, Hast thou seen that which backsliding Israel hath done? she is gone up upon every high mountain and under every green tree, and there hath played the harlot. And I said after she had done all these things, Turn thou unto me. But she returned not. And her treacherous sister Judah saw it. And I saw, when for all the causes whereby backsliding Israel committed adultery I had put her away, and given her a bill of divorce; yet her treacherous sister Judah feared not, but went and played the harlot also."

Introduction
Throughout history, God has repeatedly called His people to faithfulness, warning them against the dangers of spiritual adultery. Yet, many have chosen to go after other gods, engaging in idolatry and rebellion. The consequences of such actions are dire: spiritual destitution, rejection, and ultimately, destruction.
Many who once professed to belong to God have prostituted themselves to the world. They engage in idolatrous practices while pretending to maintain a relationship with Him. This article explores the tragic results of spiritual prostitution and the hope that remains for those who genuinely repent.

The Prostitution of God's People
But they like men have transgressed the covenant: there have they dealt treacherously against me.
(Hosea 6:7)
God’s people are often compared to a bride in Scripture, expected to be faithful to Him. However, many have broken their covenant with Him, choosing to serve other gods and indulge in the ways of the world. Their actions demonstrate not only a lack of love but also outright betrayal.
Many have wiped their mouths and claimed innocence after committing spiritual adultery. Yet God sees the heart and knows those who have truly remained faithful to Him. Those who have chosen worldliness over godliness will reap the consequences of their disobedience.

The Consequence of Spiritual Adultery
"Thou hast forsaken me, saith the Lord, thou art gone backward: therefore will I stretch out my hand against thee, and destroy thee; I am weary with repenting."
(Jeremiah 15:6)
Rebellion against God leads to rejection. Those who choose sin over righteousness will find themselves in desolation, suffering under the weight of their choices. The riches and success gained through sinful means will ultimately be devoured, leaving them in ruin.
These individuals will call upon God, but He will not hear them. Their cries will be in vain because their actions have proven them to be unworthy of His mercy. This rejection is not arbitrary; it is the natural result of consistent and willful disobedience.

No Redemption Without True Repentance
"Ye have wearied the Lord with your words. Yet ye say, Wherein have we wearied him? When ye say, Every one that doeth evil is good in the sight of the Lord, and he delighteth in them; or, Where is the God of judgment?"
(Malachi 2:17)
Many attempt to buy their way back into God's favor through religious acts and offerings. However, God does not accept the wages of sin. He desires genuine repentance, a broken and contrite heart. Those who continue in hypocrisy and deception will remain in their desolation, for their faith is false.
God does not listen to the prayers of those who live in pretense. They may claim to love Him, but their actions reveal their true affections. The judgment upon them is not unwarranted; it is the result of their own choices.

The Danger of Following Demon-Led Leaders
"Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils."
(1 Timothy 4:1)
In these times, many so-called spiritual leaders are led by demons rather than by the Holy Spirit. They promote false doctrines and encourage sinful behaviors, leading many astray. Those who follow them will share in their condemnation, for they have chosen deception over truth.
It is crucial for believers to be discerning, recognizing the difference between the voice of God and the voice of the enemy. Those who remain steadfast in God’s Word will not be led astray by the corrupt leaders of this age.

The Call to Faithfulness
"And ye shall be holy unto me: for I the Lord am holy, and have severed you from other people, that ye should be mine."
(Leviticus 20:26)
While many have fallen into rebellion, there is still a remnant that remains faithful to God. These are the ones who will receive His mercy and blessings. They do not engage in the corrupt practices of the world but maintain their covenant with Him.
The faithful are called to stand firm, resisting the temptations that lead others to destruction. They must walk in holiness, being led by the Spirit rather than the flesh. In doing so, they will be preserved from the judgment that befalls the rebellious.

Summary
Spiritual prostitution leads to destitution. Those who abandon their covenant with God in favor of worldliness will face rejection and judgment. While many seek to justify their actions, their rebellion is evident, and God will not be mocked. True believers must remain steadfast, ensuring they do not fall into the traps of deception and idolatry.
