THE GREAT SHAKING: GOD\'S JUDGMENT UPON THE ARROGANT By: Major Frank Materu
Key Scripture: Hebrews 12:26-27 "At that time his voice shook the earth, but now he has promised, ‘Once more I will shake not only the earth but also the heavens.’ The words ‘once more’ indicate the removing of what can be shaken—that is, created things—so that what cannot be shaken may remain."

INTRODUCTION
Throughout history, God has demonstrated His supreme power by shaking nations, bringing down empires, and humbling the arrogant who seek to exalt themselves above Him. As world leaders, driven by pride and demonic influence, attempt to dominate the earth, they fail to recognize the Sovereign God who is above all. Their strategies and calculations will crumble under His divine judgment. The Lord declares that He will shake the earth, and those who trust in their wealth, power, and influence will tremble in fear.
This study explores God's divine shaking, His judgment on the proud, and the ultimate triumph of His righteousness over the schemes of the wicked. It serves as a reminder to remain steadfast in humility, trusting in God's justice, and walking in His holiness.

GOD'S POWER OVER NATIONS
Daniel 2:21 "He changes times and seasons; he deposes kings and raises up others. He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to the discerning."
God has the ultimate authority over nations and their rulers. He raises leaders according to His will and brings them down when they become corrupt and arrogant. Many powerful empires have risen and fallen throughout history, and those who defied God perished in their rebellion.

THE PRIDE OF HUMANITY LEADS TO DESTRUCTION
Proverbs 16:18 "Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall."
Pride is one of the greatest sins that separate humanity from God. The arrogance of political and economic elites blinds them to the reality that their power is temporary. They imagine themselves as gods, ruling without accountability, but they will face divine judgment. The shaking of the earth is God's response to the pride of men who exalt themselves above Him.

GOD'S JUDGMENT UPON THE WICKED
Psalm 37:10-13 "A little while, and the wicked will be no more; though you look for them, they will not be found. But the meek will inherit the land and enjoy peace and prosperity. The wicked plot against the righteous and gnash their teeth at them, but the Lord laughs at the wicked, for he knows their day is coming."
The wicked believe they can escape God's justice, but He sees all their works of darkness. They oppress the poor, exploit the weak, and boast in their power. However, when God brings His divine shaking, all their schemes will be exposed, and their destruction will be swift.

HELL AWAITS THE UNREPENTANT
Luke 16:22-23 "The rich man also died and was buried. In Hades, where he was in torment, he looked up and saw Abraham far away, with Lazarus by his side."
Many powerful individuals believe their wealth can save them from consequences, but the reality of eternity cannot be avoided. The rich man in Jesus' parable had everything in life but was condemned to torment because he did not fear God. Likewise, those who reject God and pursue their own desires will face eternal punishment.

THE WAY OF THE RIGHTEOUS
Psalm 1:6 "For the Lord watches over the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked leads to destruction."
While the world is in turmoil, God's people can find peace in His presence. He calls His people to walk in righteousness, rejecting the sinful ways of the world. By staying humble, obedient, and faithful to God's Word, believers will be spared from His wrath and be kept on the path of holiness.

SUMMARY
The great shaking is God's response to the arrogance of mankind. Leaders and nations that exalt themselves above Him will be brought low. Pride leads to destruction, and those who reject God's ways will face eternal judgment. However, the righteous who remain faithful will be preserved and rewarded by God.

CONCLUSION
God is sovereign over all the earth. No leader, nation, or empire can stand against His will. Those who walk in pride will be humbled, while those who remain faithful to Him will be upheld. As believers, we must continue trusting in God's justice and aligning our lives with His righteousness.
