ACCEPTED OR REJECTED By Major Frank Materu

Key Scripture:

"Do not be deceived: God is not mocked, for whatever one sows, that will he also reap. For the one who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life."

— Galatians 6:7-8 (ESV)

Introduction

In life, we are presented daily with choices that determine whether we are accepted or rejected by God. These decisions define the path we follow—either walking in righteousness and obedience or being led astray by the fleeting allure of worldly pleasures. The question is simple: Are you walking in a way that pleases God and ensures acceptance, or are you chasing the vanity of the world, risking rejection?

Through this teaching, we will explore the importance of being found acceptable to God and avoiding the peril of deviation. We will examine the dangers of worldliness, the blessings of obedience, and how to live a life that aligns with God’s will.

The Path of Acceptance

It is God's intention that His people walk in uprightness and reflect the character of His Son, Jesus Christ. Those who follow His ways and embrace His Spirit will experience the fullness of His blessings.

“Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers; but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night.” — Psalm 1:1-2 (ESV)

Walking in obedience brings the peace of knowing we are accepted by God. It aligns us with His eternal purpose, making our lives testimonies of His mercy and goodness.

The Dangers of Worldliness

Those who pursue the world’s fleeting pleasures risk separating themselves from God. Worldliness leads to spiritual adultery, rebellion, and ultimately rejection.

“Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.” — 1 John 2:15 (ESV)

Chasing the world’s empty promises often results in bondage, anxiety, and despair. Many are trapped in debt, overwhelmed by greed, and driven by unfulfilled desires, forgetting the provision and peace that comes from trusting in God.

Trusting in God’s Provision

God calls us to rely on Him and not to be consumed by the cares of this world. He promises to meet our needs as we trust in Him.

“Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing?” — Matthew 6:25 (ESV)

As we learn to trust in God's provision, we find peace and freedom from the distractions of materialism and self-sufficiency.

Repentance: A Call to Return

God is merciful and desires that none should perish. Even those who have strayed can find restoration through repentance.

“If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.” — 2 Chronicles 7:14 (ESV)

Returning to God through humility and repentance allows us to walk in His light and experience His grace.
