NO COVENANTS WITH PROUD BOASTERS By Major Frank Materu

Key Scripture: “You shall make no covenant with them or with their gods.” – Exodus 23:32

Introduction

God is holy and pure. His desire is for a people who will lift His banner high without stain or compromise. The proud and arrogant have no place in His covenants, for their ways are far from His standards. This lesson addresses the call for purity, perseverance, and the steadfastness required to fulfill God’s vision amidst trials and opposition.

No Covenant with the Proud

“You shall make no covenant with them or with their gods.” – Exodus 23:32

God commands His people to remain separate from the defiled ways of the world. His banner is holy and must not be tainted with sin or unrighteousness. Instead, make only covenants with God, for He will provide all that is needed to fulfill His purposes.

God Has Taken the Broom

“I will cleanse them from all the sin they have committed against me.” – Jeremiah 33:8

God is sweeping through the world, gathering the broken, the sick, and the lost. He calls His people to receive them, heal their wounds, and equip them to serve. Just as God sweeps in the needy, so too must His people take up the broom and continue the work.

Set in the Midst of a Wicked Generation

“You are the light of the world.” – Matthew 5:14

God has deliberately placed His people in a perverse and corrupt generation to shine His light. Do not be swayed by their wickedness but remain steadfast. Among the lost, there are those who will reach out for redemption. Be the light that leads them to God.

Do Not Stop Putting Forth His Word

“The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God stands forever.” – Isaiah 40:8

The Word of God is life. As His messengers, continue to proclaim it boldly, regardless of the audience's reactions. Your strength and sustenance come from sharing His truth.

The End of Soft-Serve Gospel

“Preach the word; be ready in season and out of season.” – 2 Timothy 4:2

The days of diluted, feel-good messages are over. God is raising bold voices to declare His truth without compromise. Speak with authority and strength, for the time for half-hearted preaching has passed.

Delivered from the Smog

“Come out from them and be separate.” – 2 Corinthians 6:17

God delivers His people from the pollution of worldly systems and religious stagnation. He sets them apart to offer clarity, purity, and a fresh vision to those seeking escape from spiritual smog.

Fear Not

“The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear?” – Psalm 27:1

Men may threaten and oppose, but their threats are hollow. Fear God alone, for He holds ultimate power over life and death. In Him, there is no harm, only life everlasting.

Press Onward in the Vision

“Do not grow weary in doing good.” – Galatians 6:9

Do not be distracted by opposition or criticism. Press forward with God’s vision, for He has called and commissioned you. The resistance of others is irrelevant in the face of His divine purpose.

Be a Powerful Army, a Strong Tower

“The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous run to it and are safe.” – Proverbs 18:10

God’s people must stand firm, unified, and unwavering. Though others may oppose you, they will be defeated as you march forward in His power. No weapon formed against His people will prosper.

Be on Guard Against Mingled Seed

“A little leaven leavens the whole lump.” – Galatians 5:9

Beware of false teachings and deceptive spirits infiltrating your midst. Stand firm in truth and reject anything contrary to God’s word. Remain part of the pure remnant God is raising.

Seek the Gain of His Spirit

“Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.” – Colossians 3:2

True value lies in the Spirit, not in earthly possessions or accomplishments. Rid yourself of covetous desires and focus on what is eternal—your growth and rewards in Christ.

Revival of a Repentant People

“If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven.” – 2 Chronicles 7:14

God desires a deep, enduring revival born of genuine repentance. Miracles and signs are secondary to transformed hearts. Seek a renewal that leads people to lay down their lives in total surrender to Him.

Summary

God calls His people to holiness, purity, and perseverance. He has set them apart to proclaim His truth, care for the broken, and stand firm against the wickedness of the world. Revival comes not from signs and wonders but from contrite hearts and lasting transformation.

Conclusion

“Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.” – 1 Corinthians 15:58

God is raising a powerful, fearless army for His glory. Stay vigilant, remain pure, and press onward in His vision. Let your life and ministry reflect His light to a world in desperate need of truth and redemption.
