GOD HAS CALLED YOU TO BE A PECULIAR PEOPLE By Major Frank Materu
Key Scripture: 1 Peter 2:9
"But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light."

Introduction
God has always desired a people set apart for Himself, a people who are distinct in their character, conduct, and commitment to Him. To be peculiar means to be different from the world, to be chosen for a divine purpose. The journey of faith is not about conforming to worldly standards but rather about yielding to God’s unique calling upon your life.
Many times, God will ask peculiar things from His people—things that do not make sense to the natural mind. Some seeds you plant today may not bear fruit in your lifetime but will come forth in future generations. The sacrifices you make for the Kingdom may not be immediately rewarded, but they will bring forth life according to God's divine timing.
God has set His people apart, and He calls them to walk in holiness, righteousness, and obedience. The question is: Will you accept this calling and live a life that reflects His glory?

Some Men Are as Dogs
Philippians 3:2
"Beware of dogs, beware of evil workers, beware of the concision."
Some men live without standards of holiness or righteousness. They defile themselves and others wherever they go. They mingle among God's people, influencing them with corruption and ungodliness.
God desires His people to be pure, sanctified, and set apart for Him. He calls us to separate ourselves from the ways of the world and not take on the characteristics of those who live in sin. His Word is not for those who trample on it, but for those who seek Him with sincerity and truth.

He Forms You for His Purposes
Isaiah 64:8
"But now, O Lord, thou art our father; we are the clay, and thou our potter; and we all are the work of thy hand."
God has created each person for a specific purpose. Many times, people compare themselves to others, wishing they were different. But God’s plan for each of us is unique.
Do not look backward or envy another’s path, but embrace the destiny God has ordained for you. When you surrender to His purpose, He will shape you into the vessel He desires.

Praise
Psalm 150:6
"Let everything that hath breath praise the Lord. Praise ye the Lord."
Praise should be a daily practice in the life of a believer. When we praise and exalt God, His presence dwells among us. Praise opens doors to divine revelation and spiritual growth.
God inhabits the praises of His people. When we glorify Him, He moves in our lives in ways beyond our imagination.

Take Up Your Cross
Luke 9:23
"And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me."
A true disciple of Christ must be willing to lay down their own desires and follow Him wholeheartedly. You cannot cling to the world and expect to inherit the Kingdom of God.
Surrender your life, let go of the carnal, and embrace the spiritual. Only through complete submission can you walk in the fullness of His promises.

Some Must Take the Hard Way
Proverbs 3:11-12
"My son, despise not the chastening of the Lord; neither be weary of his correction: For whom the Lord loveth he correcteth; even as a father the son in whom he delighteth."
Some people resist God's will, forcing Him to discipline them through hardship. Those who are stubborn and self-important must sometimes be broken before they fully submit to Him.
Instead of resisting, surrender to God willingly. Walk in obedience, and He will guide you gently.

Attitude of Gratitude
1 Thessalonians 5:18
"In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you."
Gratitude opens the door for God’s blessings. Those who murmur and complain are like broken vessels that cannot contain His glory.
If you desire God’s continuous blessings, cultivate an attitude of gratitude. Thank Him in every circumstance, and He will pour out His glory upon you.
