REFRESH, RENEW, AND RESTORE By Major Frank Materu

Key Scripture:

"Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light." (Matthew 11:28-30)

Introduction

In the chaos and challenges of this present age, God's promise to refresh, renew, and restore remains steadfast for those who truly belong to Him. As the world is filled with madness and rebellion, the Living God assures His people of His care, hope, and power to restore what has been lost to the enemy. This teaching explores the depth of God’s commitment to His faithful, highlighting His promise to refresh our spirits, renew our hope, and restore what has been taken.

God’s Promise to Refresh His People

The Lord is a refuge for His people, offering times of refreshing even in seasons of despair. He desires that we turn to Him in faith and confidence, trusting in His ability to bring us rest and peace.

“The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.” (Psalm 23:1-3)

When we align ourselves with Him, He faithfully restores our souls, providing living water to quench our spiritual thirst and sustain us.

Renewal Through Hope and Faith

God does not abandon His people to the darkness of this age. Instead, He renews their strength and equips them to rise above the challenges they face. This renewal comes when we keep our hope alive and place our trust in Him as the Almighty.

“But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.” (Isaiah 40:31)

As we wait on the Lord, He infuses us with His Spirit, enabling us to press on in victory.

The Restoration of What Was Lost

God is faithful to restore what the enemy has stolen from His people. His restoration is a testimony of His sovereignty and a reminder of His power over all forces of evil.

“And I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten, the cankerworm, and the caterpiller, and the palmerworm, my great army which I sent among you. And ye shall eat in plenty, and be satisfied, and praise the name of the Lord your God, that hath dealt wondrously with you: and my people shall never be ashamed.” (Joel 2:25-26)

God’s restoration brings joy and fulfillment, replacing loss and sorrow with abundance and thanksgiving.
