Endurance Until the End By Major. Frank Materu

Key Scripture: Matthew 24:12-13 – "Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold. But the one who stands firm to the end will be saved."

Introduction:

In the face of increasing trials and temptations, it is essential for believers to endure. Jesus calls us to stand firm, no matter the hardships. This message of endurance is not just about surviving; it is about remaining faithful, committed, and resolute until the very end.

The key scripture reminds us that while many may fall away because of growing lawlessness, those who endure until the end will be saved. It is not about a short-term victory, but a lifetime of commitment to God's word and purpose.

1. Endurance is Necessary for Salvation

"But the one who stands firm to the end will be saved."

Matthew 24:13

Endurance is not a temporary thing—it requires long-term perseverance. It is easy to begin the journey with enthusiasm, but it is the consistent, faithful walk that guarantees ultimate salvation. The journey may be tough, but the rewards for those who endure are eternal.

2. The Call to Listen and Obey

"He who has ears, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. The one who is victorious will not be hurt at all by the second death."

Revelation 2:11

God speaks to us, urging us to listen carefully and obey His instructions. His voice is essential for victory. We are called to endure and overcome the temptations and trials of this world, but this can only be done through attentiveness to His voice and walking in obedience to His commands.

3. Embrace the Struggles for Christ's Sake

"They left the Sanhedrin, rejoicing because they had been counted worthy of suffering disgrace for the Name."

Acts 5:41

Standing firm for Christ often leads to ridicule, rejection, and suffering. However, we are encouraged to rejoice in such moments, as they affirm our allegiance to Jesus Christ. The struggles we face in His name are not for nothing—they help refine our faith and make us more like Him.

4. The Role of the Church and Its Leadership

"And God has placed in the church first of all apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then miracles, then gifts of healing, of helping, of guidance, and of different kinds of tongues."

1 Corinthians 12:28

The church is not just a gathering of believers, but a place where God has strategically placed leaders to equip and build up the body. The leadership, guided by the Holy Spirit, plays a key role in strengthening believers to endure, providing the necessary tools and wisdom to help us stand firm against the enemy.

5. The Dangers of Worldly Love

"Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in them."

1 John 2:15-17

The world offers temporary pleasures that often lead believers astray. If we become too attached to the things of this world, we risk losing our love for God. The world and its desires will pass away, but those who do the will of God will endure forever. Do not allow your heart to be consumed by worldly temptations.

6. Victory Over the Enemy

"The seventy returned with joy and said, 'Lord, even the demons submit to us in your name.' He replied, 'I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven. I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you.'"

Luke 10:17-19

In Christ, we have been given power to overcome the enemy. No matter the obstacles or trials, we have the authority to stand firm and see victory. The enemy may try to discourage or destroy us, but through Christ, we can trample on his schemes and stand victorious.

Conclusion:

Endurance is key in our walk with God. It’s not about avoiding struggles, but about enduring them with faith and hope.

The world will try to pull us away, and the enemy will attack, but those who remain steadfast will receive the ultimate reward: eternal life with Christ. May we be those who stand firm until the end, embracing the challenges and continuing to walk in the power of His Spirit.
