True Repentance and the Cleansing of the Earth By: Major. Frank Materu
Key Verse:
"Seek the Lord while He may be found; call on Him while He is near. Let the wicked forsake their ways and the unrighteous their thoughts. Let them turn to the Lord, and He will have mercy on them." - Isaiah 55:6-7
God’s Judgment on the Greedy
In these days, God is cleansing the earth, and His wrath will be poured upon those who have pursued deceitful riches.
Many have believed that financial gain equates to godliness, but God will strip them of these ill-gotten gains, leaving them destitute of the very things they lusted after.
This is His righteous judgment on those whose hearts are filled with greed and self-indulgence.
“For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil.” 1 Timothy 6:10
The Power of Genuine Repentance
God delights in a man who is thoroughly repentant, one who turns from his wicked ways and walks in righteousness.
True repentance makes room for God, for when we are full of ourselves, there is no space for His spirit to dwell.
When we humble ourselves and turn from sin, God grants us His tender mercy each day.
Those who genuinely repent will see God’s hand in their lives, for He searches the earth for the truly repentant and grants them truth, light, and hope.
The Lull of Spiritual Complacency
Many who claim to be God’s people have fallen into a deep spiritual slumber, no longer watchful or obedient to Him.
They follow false prophets and deceitful teachers who tell them there is no need for repentance, no wrath in God.
Such lies have led to a dangerous complacency, as many have heard the call to repent but have never truly acted on it,
believing it is outdated.
“Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.”
1 Peter 5:8
Hypocrisy and Worldly Compromise
The so-called hypocritical and pretentious Christians bear great responsibility for this state of affairs.
Using God’s name in vain, they have projected worldliness and degradation, setting an example of sin rather than righteousness.
Instead of convicting sinners, they have joined them, and in doing so, His people have conformed to the world.
The church has compromised, behaving in ways that blur the line between righteousness and sin.
“Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” Romans 12:2
Conclusion: A Call to Be Set Apart
God calls us to separate from the world, not to embrace it.
As believers, we must turn from sin, reject false teachings, and return to genuine repentance.
The world needs a church that is set apart, walking in truth and righteousness.
Let us heed the call, turn back to God, and live lives that reflect His holiness.
