Peculiar People by General Deborah Green
Praise God! Welcome to Battle Cry Sounding. We are in a generation that has lost sight of the Living God due to compromise with the world. Many people are estranged from God because they have embraced worldliness, leading to ungodliness and abominations.
Yet, **THE CALL OF GOD REMAINS TRUE**. From the beginning, as stated in Exodus and Deuteronomy, God has called His people to be a peculiar people—a people set apart for Him. When God's people conform to the image of the world, they grieve Him because He desires their separation unto Him.
Some react angrily to the idea of being a separated people, believing it hinders their witness. However, there is no biblical foundation for this belief. This is a subtle deception from Satan, leading to loss of strength, similar to Samson's downfall when he compromised his consecration.
God's people are called to be **HIS POSSESSION**. The term "peculiar" signifies possession, as well as a need for protection, like securing a valuable home against thieves. The devil, as a thief, seeks to steal those called unto the Lord through temptation and deceit.
To be peculiar also means being God's wealth, treasures, and special possessions. We have been purchased by the blood of the Lamb. Our lives should be surrendered to God, but many Christians today are guilty of fraud—taking the provision of His blood while holding onto their self-interests. You cannot serve two masters.
God wants **ALL** of us, not just a token offering. He desires our hearts, souls, and lives entirely devoted to Him. We cannot be stingy with God, nor can we give Him only a portion of our lives. True commitment requires complete surrender.
In Exodus 19:4-5, God promises that if His people obey Him and keep His covenant, they will be His peculiar treasure. This implies a choice—only those who truly obey can claim this identity. Deuteronomy 26:16 emphasizes God’s call for obedience with all our hearts and souls.
God desires His people to be a shining light and a holy nation. However, if they turn from Him and take the glory for themselves, they become cursed. It is God who deserves all glory and honor.
Psalm 135:4 reiterates that God has chosen His people as His peculiar treasure. The devil has worked tirelessly to make God’s people despise their blessedness, leading them to seek worldly treasures instead of being separated unto God.
In conclusion, it is wonderful to be possessed by God, to be part of His peculiar people. We should long for this identity, knowing we are treasured by Him.
