Many, however, struggle with fear and religious pride, which hinder the work of the Holy Spirit. The Lord desires that His people yield fully to Him, allowing the Spirit to manifest His power and glory. Jesus Himself provided the perfect example of humble obedience, rejecting self-glorification and choosing instead to do the Father's will.
Throughout history, religious leaders and institutions have often sought to maintain control over people rather than allowing the Holy Spirit to work freely. This resistance to the Spirit’s power leads to spiritual stagnation, where human efforts replace divine guidance. The Superiority of God's Power Over Human Works
"For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, He taketh the wise in their own craftiness." (1 Corinthians 3:19)
God alone is sovereign and eternal. Human efforts, no matter how impressive, cannot replace the power of the Holy Spirit. Many people take pride in their achievements, believing that their ministries, buildings, or reputations define their spiritual success. However, God is not impressed by human pride but by faith and obedience.
Religious institutions often measure success by numbers and external appearances, but Jesus never sought fame or wealth. His mission was to declare the Kingdom of God, heal the sick, raise the dead, and cast out demons—all through the power of the Holy Spirit. Those who truly follow Christ must reject the temptation to seek personal glory and instead allow God to receive all honor.

The Danger of Religious Control and Fear
"Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away." (2 Timothy 3:5)
One of the greatest hindrances to the move of the Holy Spirit is religious control. Many fear the supernatural works of God because they desire to remain in control. They set up traditions, doctrines, and rules that quench the Spirit rather than allowing Him to move freely.
This religious mindset is not new. The Pharisees in Jesus’ time opposed Him, not because He did evil, but because His miracles threatened their power. They preferred their traditions over the truth. Today, many churches and leaders still resist the work of the Holy Spirit out of fear and pride, keeping people in spiritual bondage.

Jesus’ Example of Humility and Power
"I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me." (John 5:30)
Jesus did not seek recognition or personal gain. He remained humble and fully submitted to the Father’s will. Unlike many religious leaders, He did not build a grand institution or create a personal empire. Instead, He preached the truth, performed miracles, and demonstrated God’s Kingdom through the power of the Holy Spirit.
Despite His humility, Jesus was opposed and persecuted by religious leaders who were envious of His influence. They plotted against Him because He set people free from their control. This pattern continues today, where those who truly follow the Holy Spirit often face opposition from religious structures.

"If ye love me, keep my commandments. And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you forever." (John 14:15-16)

Many, however, prefer intellectual arguments and religious rituals over the true power of God. They resist the Spirit’s leading and, in doing so, deprive themselves of experiencing His supernatural work. To see God’s power at work, believers must embrace the Holy Spirit fully and walk in faith.
